Who we are
Established in 1994, Building Monitoring Services (BMS) is a trusted compliance partner specialising in Legionella control, indoor air quality monitoring and closed water system management. Founded on the principle that clients deserve independent, expert advice without sales agendas or hidden incentives, we provide clear, evidence-led reporting that helps organisations manage safety, governance and building performance with confidence.
Part of the Celnor Group
Celnor Group is a UK-based environmental services group operating across the Testing, Inspection, Certification and Compliance (TICC) landscape. With a growing portfolio of specialist businesses, Celnor provides essential services that protect people, property and the environment.
We're looking for a driven, commercially focused Business Development Manager to join a growing consultancy business specialising in water hygiene, Legionella risk management and environmental compliance. While we're ideally seeking someone based across London, the Home Counties or the South of England, we're open to exceptional candidates from elsewhere in the UK who bring the right industry experience and network.
What you will do
- Proactively identify and win new business opportunities across the South of England.
- Develop relationships with FM providers, healthcare organisations, local authorities, housing providers, commercial property owners and industrial clients.
- Generate and qualify your own pipeline through networking, referrals and outbound business development.
- Deliver consultative sales meetings, understanding client compliance challenges and recommending tailored solutions.
- Prepare proposals, negotiate commercial terms and secure long-term service contracts.
- Work closely with technical consultants and operational teams to ensure a seamless client experience.
- Represent the business at industry events and continue to build market presence.
- Proven experience in business development within the water hygiene, Legionella or environmental consultancy sector.
- Strong understanding of Legionella Risk Assessments, hot and cold water systems and water sampling.
- Experience selling consultancy or compliance services rather than products.
- A genuine new business hunter with a track record of winning new clients.
- Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
- Full UK driving licence.
Experience in any of the following would be highly advantageous:
- Indoor Air Quality (IAQ).
- Closed water systems.
- Water treatment consultancy.
- Compliance consultancy.
- Environmental or risk management services.
- 20 days annual leave rising to 22 days following the first 2 calendar. years of service. After that there is an additional day of leave added each year up to 25 days.
- Company vehicle available for both business and personal use, or a car allowance option, with a fuel card provided.
- Optional enrolment in the company health insurance after 6 months of service.
- Access to an Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) offering confidential wellbeing and support services.
