About the Role
The R&D Clinical Creation Center sits at the intersection of technology and clinical execution, owning the digital, data, and AI capabilities that power the full clinical trial spectrum — from study planning and design through execution, monitoring, and delivery of clean, reportable data. This leader will serve as the single point of accountability in Digital for budget management and for delivery against prioritized R&D impact, defining and driving the strategy for how emerging technologies, including AI, are embedded into how Pfizer plans and runs clinical trials. They will partner closely with CD&O and the broader R&D organization to translate capability into measurable impact.
Key Responsibilities
- Own end-to-end accountability for all digital, data, and AI enablers supporting the clinical trial lifecycle — study planning, design, startup, execution, monitoring, closeout, and reporting.
- Serve as the single point of accountability in Digital for budget management and for delivery against prioritized R&D impact across the R&D Clinical Creation Center portfolio.
- Define and execute a forward-looking technology strategy that incorporates AI and advanced analytics into clinical trial planning, optimization, and delivery.
- Lead the R&D Clinical Creation Center team using product-oriented delivery models and Agile ways of working, shifting from project-based to product-based operating models where appropriate.
- Partner with CD&O, R&D therapeutic areas, biostatistics, and translational medicine leadership to ensure technology investments are grounded in real operational and scientific need.
- Evaluate, select, and integrate emerging platforms and tools (e.g., clinical data capture, eClinical systems) to modernize and simplify the trial technology environment for all consumers: Pfizer colleagues, clinical sites, patients, regulators, et al.
- Build and develop a high-performing, cross-functional team spanning technology, data science, and clinical domain expertise.
- Establish governance, prioritization, and delivery frameworks that balance innovation with regulatory, quality, and compliance requirements.
- Serve as a thought partner to R&D leadership on the future of AI-enabled clinical development.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of experience in digital product delivery, with demonstrated success leading technology organizations through modern, product-oriented operating models.
- 5+ years of experience in the clinical domain, including clinical operations, clinical development, or scientific/medical functions.
- Proven track record applying Agile ways of working (Agile WoW) at scale, including experience shifting teams from traditional project delivery to product-centric models.
- Direct experience applying AI/ML to study planning, trial optimization, and/or clinical delivery.
- Strong track record partnering with senior clinical, scientific, and business stakeholders to translate strategy into delivered capability.
- Experience leading through organizational change and ambiguity.
- Demonstrated experience owning and managing a technology budget of significant scale, with accountability for delivery outcomes.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with clinical data platforms (e.g., RedCap Cloud, Veeva, or comparable eClinical systems).
- Background in pharmaceutical or biotech R&D technology environments.
- Advanced degree in a relevant scientific, technical, or business discipline.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $274,000.00 to $456,600.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in Pfizer’s Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 30.0% of the base salary and eligibility to participate in our share based long term incentive program.
