The YMCA of Broome County is hiring a part-time Fitness Center Attendant to support members at our Johnson City fitness center. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys fitness, helping others and creating a welcoming gym environment. You will assist members with fitness equipment, provide workout guidance, help maintain a safe and clean facility, and encourage members as they work toward their health and fitness goals.
Available Shifts
Monday 1:00 PM-5:00 PM
Thursday 9:00 AM-1:00 PM
Saturday 12:00 PM-4:00 PM
What You'll Do
- Welcome members and create a friendly, positive fitness center experience.
- Engage, motivate and encourage members as they work toward their health and fitness goals.
- Provide basic workout guidance and help members use fitness equipment safely and correctly.
- Demonstrate proper form and technique and provide fitness equipment instruction.
- Monitor the fitness center and enforce YMCA safety policies and procedures.
- Help maintain a clean, organized and safe workout environment.
- Support daily fitness center operations and provide excellent customer service.
- Opportunities may be available to teach group exercise classes on land or in the pool.
Requirements
- Passion for fitness, wellness and helping people succeed.
- Strong knowledge of basic fitness principles, exercise technique and fitness equipment.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to connect with members of different ages and fitness levels.
- Dependable, friendly and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Previous experience in a gym, fitness center, wellness center or similar environment preferred.
