Field Support Technician - Food Manufacturing

We are currently looking for a motivated Field Service Technician to provide technical support and on-site service for customers throughout North America. This role is well-suited for someone who enjoys hands-on mechanical work, traveling to customer locations, troubleshooting industrial equipment, and helping customers maintain efficient operations.

As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for installing, servicing, maintaining, and optimizing food processing equipment while acting as a key technical resource for customers. Candidates with strong electro-mechanical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and a willingness to travel are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Perform equipment installation, setup, commissioning, and startup activities at customer sites.
• Conduct operational testing and verify equipment performance prior to customer acceptance.
• Support equipment launches, production runs, and process validation activities.
• Diagnose and resolve issues involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems.
• Troubleshoot PLC-based machinery and collaborate with engineering or technical support teams on advanced issues.
• Respond to urgent service requests and provide support during critical production events.
• Analyze recurring equipment concerns, identify root causes, and implement effective corrective actions.
• Complete preventive maintenance services and equipment inspections to improve reliability and reduce downtime.
• Recommend repair strategies, equipment modifications, and maintenance improvements.
• Provide remote troubleshooting assistance through phone, email, and virtual support channels.
• Instruct customer operators and maintenance teams on equipment operation, safety protocols, troubleshooting methods, and maintenance procedures.
• Develop and maintain strong customer relationships while delivering professional service and support.
• Serve as a technical partner focused on improving customer productivity, efficiency, and equipment uptime.
• Accurately document service work, installations, inspections, and maintenance activities.
• Maintain assigned tools, service equipment, and replacement parts inventory.
• Follow all applicable safety regulations, including OSHA requirements and Lockout/Tagout procedures, as well as customer-specific safety standards.

Requirements

•  1+ year of field service experience, preferably in food or meat processing
• Strong electro-mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills
• Familiarity with PLCs and control systems
• Ability to read schematics, diagrams, and technical manuals
• Strong problem-solving and customer service skills
• Effective communication skills with both technical and non-technical users
• Ability to work independently and manage travel-based assignments
• Willingness to travel extensively, including occasional after-hours support
• Valid driver's license required
