Principle Purpose of Job
The Staff Accountant is responsible for supporting and maintaining the daily financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all accounting processes. This role oversees accounts payable, reconciliations, and financial reporting while assisting with tax filings and system maintenance. Additionally, the Staff Accountant plays a key role in supporting internal controls, preparing financial statements, and ensuring proper allocation of expenses. Working closely with the Controller and Assistant General Manager, this position requires a high level of attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in a dynamic hospitality environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the Accounts Payable Clerk & General Cashier, including hiring, training, performance reviews, and disciplinary actions.
- Review daily cash and credit card transactions, ensuring accuracy in reconciliations and financial records.
- Verify internal house accounts, ensuring proper allocation of charges, discounts, and comps.
- Maintain and update the Property Management and Point of Sales systems, including menu and charge code updates.
- Assist in preparing month-end journal entries and reconciling assigned balance sheet accounts.
- Support financial reporting by generating and distributing monthly financial statements.
- Research and resolve disputed credit card charges, preparing necessary documentation.
- Prepare and file monthly and quarterly sales and occupancy taxes, processing ACH payments as needed.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Controller or Assistant General Manager.

- 1–2 years of accounting experience required, preferably in hospitality.
- Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general cashiering.
- Degree in accounting or a related field preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently.
- Proficiency in Excel; experience with ResortSuite PMS or similar systems is a plus.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Adaptable to a fast-paced environment, with flexibility to work holidays as needed.
