Description

Overview

LMI is seeking a collaborative and strategic Product Owner to join a high-performing team supporting a government healthcare client. In this role, you will own and evolve a portfolio of data and platform capabilities, translating mission needs into a clear product vision, defining and prioritizing the backlog, and working closely with developers, engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable, and reliable solutions. This position may be remote.

This opportunity is ideal for either:

  • An experienced Product Owner who has worked closely with technical teams, or
  • A technologist (e.g., DevSecOps engineer, AWS/cloud architect, data engineer, or data scientist) who wants to move into a Product Owner role while still leveraging their technical background.

LMI is a new breed of digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact with innovation and speed. Investing in technology and prototypes ahead of need, LMI brings commercial-grade platforms and mission-ready AI to federal agencies at commercial speed.

Leveraging our mission-ready technology and solutions, proven expertise in federal deployment, and strategic relationships, we enhance outcomes for the government, efficiently and effectively. With a focus on agility and collaboration, LMI serves the defense, space, healthcare, and energy sectors—helping agencies navigate complexity and outpace change. Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI is committed to delivering impactful results that strengthen missions and drive lasting value.

Responsibilities

  • Define and communicate the product vision, roadmap, and success metrics for infrastructure and data platform capabilities supporting a government healthcare client.
  • Own and prioritize the product backlog, balancing technical debt, platform reliability, security, and performance with user-facing features and stakeholder needs.
  • Translate business and mission requirements into clear, actionable user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Collaborate closely with business analyst, DevSecOps, cloud/infrastructure engineers, data engineers, and data scientists to design and deliver secure, scalable, and resilient solutions.
  • Partner with business owners, program managers, and end users to understand needs, gather feedback, and ensure delivered capabilities create measurable value.
  • Participate and lead agile ceremonies (e.g., backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint reviews), ensuring alignment across cross-functional teams.
  • Monitor product performance, reliability, and usage; leverage data and user feedback to drive continuous improvement and inform prioritization.
  • Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements relevant to federal healthcare data and infrastructure.
  • Develop and maintain product documentation including roadmaps, release plans, feature descriptions, and stakeholder communications. Balance technical improvement priorities with new feature requests. Communicate near and long-term roadmap vision to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate dependencies across teams and initiatives, proactively identifying risks and mitigation strategies.
  • Champion best practices for platform and data governance, including standardization, reusability, and observability of services and data assets.
  • Support change management activities such as stakeholder training, rollout planning, and adoption tracking for new platform capabilities.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in one or more of the following:
    • Product ownership or product management in a technical environment, or
    • Technical roles such as DevSecOps engineer, cloud/AWS architect, data engineer, or data scientist with demonstrated responsibility for requirements, prioritization, or solution design.
  • Experience working with infrastructure, cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), or data pipelines and databases in a production environment with a public facing product.
  • Demonstrated ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and clear user stories.
  • Hands-on experience in agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban) and tooling (e.g., Jira).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data and metrics to inform decisions and trade-offs.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Desired:

  • Experience with AWS services relevant to infrastructure and data, including including Athena, Glue, EKS, HealthLake, and RDS.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps practices and tooling (e.g., CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure as code, automated testing, monitoring and observability).
  • Hands-on experience with data engineering or data science workflows, including ETL/ELT, data warehousing, or analytics/ML platforms.
  • Knowledge of healthcare data standards, privacy regulations, and security requirements (e.g., HIPAA, FISMA, FedRAMP).
  • Experience working with federal government clients or in highly regulated environments.
  • Certifications such as:
    • Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) or equivalent agile/product certification
    • AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or other relevant cloud certifications
    • Security or governance certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM)
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, manage complex dependencies, and drive consensus among diverse stakeholders.
