Catering / Kitchen Assistant
Location: Hauxton, Cambridge
Salary: £13,988 per annum (£25,877.80 FTE)
Hours: 20 hours per week Friday - Tuesday 10am - 2pm
We’re looking for a friendly and reliable Catering / Kitchen Assistant to join a welcoming team within a residential care environment.
You’ll work alongside the kitchen team to help prepare and serve meals, maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene, and ensure residents enjoy a positive dining experience. This is a great opportunity for someone looking for a part-time role with a consistent working pattern and no late evenings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the kitchen team with food preparation and general catering duties.
- Help with the preparation and serving of meals and refreshments.
- Keep kitchen, dining and food preparation areas clean, tidy and organised.
- Follow food hygiene, health and safety procedures at all times.
- Help monitor stock levels and ensure supplies are available when needed.
- Take care to minimise food waste wherever possible.
- Contribute ideas and feedback to help improve the dining experience.
- Work as part of a supportive team to provide a high standard of service to residents.
About You:
- Available to work weekends and the set shift pattern Friday - Tuesday 10am-2pm, these days / hours are non negotiable
- You’ll be dependable, positive and happy working as part of a team. We’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, pays attention to detail and understands the importance of maintaining excellent hygiene standards.
- Previous experience in catering, hospitality or a similar environment would be an advantage, but full training can be provided for the right person.
- A Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification would be beneficial, along with a basic understanding of kitchen equipment and food safety.
