In the role of Senior Accountant, you will help provide the financial insight, accurate reporting, and disciplined accounting practices that support informed decision-making and the continued growth and success of our business.
The Senior Accountant plays a key role within NewGround's Finance team, supporting the Controller and working closely with the CFO and operational leadership on corporate accounting and finance activities. This position supports budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting and analysis, month-end close, and audit and tax compliance. The Senior Accountant works collaboratively across the organization to provide meaningful financial insights, maintain accurate financial information, and identify opportunities to improve and automate financial processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist the Controller with routine accounting activities and financial reporting, including month-end close, financial statements, profitability analysis, budget-to-actual variance analysis, and other reporting that supports the strategic goals of the business.
- Assist with the compilation and preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting packages for distribution to operational leaders, the C-Suite, and Board of Directors.
- Partner with operational leaders to maintain company forecasts for each business unit and understand the financial impact of projects and activities throughout the organization.
- Perform financial analysis and provide meaningful financial insights to operational leaders to support informed business decisions.
- Collaborate with business units in the United States and Canada to prepare the company's annual budget and work directly with the Controller and CFO to finalize the annual budget package.
- Serve as a collaborative member of the Shared Services team, partnering with Finance, IT, Human Resources, Legal, and other functions while remaining informed of key company initiatives and objectives.
- Develop proficiency in NewGround's enterprise resource planning (ERP) system and partner with the Controller and other Finance team members to identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities within the system.
- Assist with annual financial audit and tax compliance processes.
- Maintain accurate and organized accounting records and financial data to support reporting, analysis, audit, and compliance requirements.
- Identify opportunities to continuously improve accounting and finance processes, reporting, controls, and operational efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Develop strong working relationships with the Controller, CFO, operational leaders, and other business partners throughout the organization.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE PREREQUISITES
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline required.
- Minimum of 2–3 years of professional accounting or finance experience.
- Demonstrated experience with accounting transactions, financial data, financial reporting, and analysis.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, with strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively across departments and communicate financial information to both financial and non-financial audiences.
- Experience working with or learning enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems preferred.
- CPA designation and/or public accounting audit experience preferred.
