Claims Manager - LAM

About the Role

The Claims Manager will lead a team of Claims Adjusters and oversee the efficient and high-quality handling of cargo and marine claims within the Maersk Fleet environment. The role works closely with the Head of Claims Operations and Regional Claims leadership to ensure claims quality, operational excellence, stakeholder engagement and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, coach and support a team of Claims Adjusters in managing cargo and marine claims in line with established guidelines and procedures.
• Monitor team performance, service levels, KPIs and claims quality.
• Provide technical guidance on complex, high-value and sensitive claims, including liability, settlement and recovery matters.
• Ensure claims are appropriately investigated, documented and resolved while balancing customer experience, commercial considerations and legal requirements.
• Protect and pursue recovery rights and support loss prevention initiatives.
• Maintain high standards of claims documentation, data quality and system usage.
• Support the implementation and continuous improvement of Claims SOPs and processes.
• Identify capability gaps and support team training, coaching and development.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders including Fleet/Marine teams, customers, lawyers, underwriters, P&I Clubs, recovery agents and third-party claims administrators.
• Provide accurate claims reporting, analysis and management information.
• Escalate complex or high-value matters to senior management as appropriate.
• Work collaboratively with global and regional Claims teams to drive consistent and effective claims operations.

We're Looking For

Essential

• Experience in cargo claims, marine claims, shipping, logistics, marine insurance or maritime legal claims.
• Proven experience handling complex claims and providing technical guidance.
• Experience in people leadership, coaching or team development.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a global matrix environment and manage multiple stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities.
• Commercial and solutions-oriented mindset.

Preferred

• LLB, LLM, MBA or equivalent qualification.
• Knowledge of maritime law, shipping operations, logistics, marine insurance, P&I or claims management.
• Experience working with global teams and claims stakeholders.
• Exposure to process improvement and operational excellence.
• Experience with claims management systems and data-driven reporting.
