Organizational Context and Scope

With its 173 member States and offices in more than 100 countries, Client is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. As part of its efforts to promote women's empowerment, and enhance gender-based violence (GBV) prevention and response in humanitarian actions, the Protection Unit through its implementing partners supports integration of gender-based violence prevention and women's participation initiatives into all programme activities, ensuring that Client's humanitarian response is provided in a way that ensures gender equality, meaningful access to life saving services by vulnerable populations and fosters participation and empowerment of women and girls.
Under the overall supervision of the Programme Officer GBV and direct supervision of the Senior Programme Associate, the incumbent will support the coordination, implementation and monitoring of the provision of GBV risk mitigation, prevention and response services to vulnerable populations under the Canada Project in Karachi, Sindh provision.
Responsibilities and Accountabilities
- In close coordination with the Programme Officer (GBV), National Officer (GBV), and the Senior Programme Associate, support in the planning, implementation, monitoring and reporting of Client's GBV activities in Karachi, Sindh province.
- Provide age-appropriate and survivor-centred GBV Case Management services to survivors vulnerable populations including women and girls, including assessment of survivor's needs; basic counselling; support to develop and implement a care plan; support to develop and implement a safety plan; and support to access services additional services in line with clients' wishes, Inter Agency GBV Case Management Guidelines, and Client's SOPs.
- Maintain accurate, confidential case records using standardized information management systems like GBVIMS, participate in regular case review meetings and coaching sessions to support delivery of quality GBV case management services.
- Provide information to community members on available services and support survivors' informed choices through referral, accompaniment, service coordination and follow up, and participation in referral systems/pathways.
- Plan and conduct awareness raising sessions on GBV and other protection risks to support transform negative social and gender norms.
- Map local services, coordinate safe referrals (medical, legal, social, safe shelter), and accompany clients when needed.
- Develop and maintain contact with relevant stakeholders including government stakeholders, community leaders and other humanitarian partners and service providers to strengthen access to services and build support for survivors.
- Develop and submit timely and quality activity reports including ensuring proper use reporting templates, and adherance to strict data protection and information-sharing protocols to protect the privacy, confidentiality, and safety of vulnerable populations.
- Identify and document good practices and lessons learned; contribute to the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) on GBV and support the development of new GBV projects.
- Support the Humanitarian, Resilience and Recovery Division (HRRD) and the Protection Unit with other tasks and activities as requested, including but not limited to conducting field visits, and organizing key informant interviews (KIIs), focus group discussions, awareness raising sessions and other activities.
- Assist with other tasks, as may be required.
Required Qualifications and Experience
EDUCATION
- Bachelors or Equivalent in development studies, social sciences, gender studies, law, human rights or other relevant field from an accredited academic institution with 2 years of relevant professional experience.
EXPERIENCE
- Experience working on general protection, child protection (CP), gender-based violence (GBV) , including working in direct contact with beneficiaries.
- Previous experience in protection and GBV information management is an assest.
- Understanding of the protection and GBV sector in Pakistan, its challenges, priorities and existing referral pathways, and demonstrated knowledge of principles applying to safe referrals.
- Good experience in providing technical guidance and capacity building on general protection, GBV, CP and other cross-cutting issues.
- Understanding of critical issues around data protection principles and knowledge of safe, confidential and ethical data collection, processing and analysis.
- Advanced computer skills and literacy (MS Word, Power Point) and proficiency in Excel.
- Knowledge of the Afghanistan crisis in Pakistan and understanding of issues related to Afghan migrants and host communities in Pakistan.
SKILLS
- In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization; and,
- Knowledge of UN and bilateral donor programming.
- Knowledge of financial rules and regulations.

Languages : English, French, and Spanish.
REQUIRED For this position, fluency in English and Urdu is required (oral and written).
DESIRABLE
Working knowledge of Pashtu, Dari or any other local language/s.
