Description
At Ouster, we are pioneering the future of Physical AI. Our advanced vision algorithms and cutting-edge sensor hardware power the next generation of autonomous systems - from robots to smart infrastructure - building a safer and more efficient world.
The Industrial Autonomy Team is seeking an electrical engineer to design and validate the core electrical architecture, schematics, and integrated PCBs powering products for autonomy and physical AI customers. Collaborating with a small hardware team, you will help shape our roadmap while taking complex systems from early prototype through high-volume manufacturing.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems for autonomy products, including schematics, component selection, and PCB layout
- Partner closely with other HW/FW engineers to bring up, debug, and validate prototype hardware
- Support hardware architecture decisions across power, compute, sensor integration, and system reliability
- Support sensor integration, signal integrity analysis, power optimization, and system-level debugging
- Partner with mechanical engineering on enclosure, thermal, connector, and integration constraints
- Work with manufacturing and supply chain teams to support prototype builds, NPI, and production ramp
- Support component qualification and vendor selection
- Document designs, test results, and engineering changes to support scalable product development
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience designing, testing, and delivering complex and highly integrated electrical designs
- Experience designing embedded hardware, sensor systems, or compute platforms to industrial-grade standards at mass manufacturing scale (10,000+yr)
- Experience with Altium (or similar)
- Demonstrated ability to concurrently champion multiple projects at varying lifecycle stages, with minimal project management oversight
Preferred experience
- Experience with high-volume production, including direct collaboration with overseas contract manufacturers
- Experience with Functional Safety standards (ISO 26262 or similar) and rigorous validation frameworks
The base pay will be dependent on your skills, work experience, location, and qualifications. This role may also be eligible for equity & benefits. ($120,000 - $160,000)
