Accountant

An established organisation based in Centurion is seeking an experienced Accountant to join its finance team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, managing month-end processes, performing reconciliations, preparing management reports and supporting the annual audit process.

This role is suited to a detail-oriented accounting professional who can work independently, manage multiple priorities and contribute to improving financial processes and internal controls.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the general ledger and complete monthly reconciliations to supporting sub-ledgers.
• Manage the month-end and year-end financial close processes.
• Assist with annual financial audits and provide supporting documentation where required.
• Maintain and update the fixed asset register.
• Manage cashbook processing, bank reconciliations and payment processes.
• Reconcile intercompany loans, balances and transactions.
• Complete monthly VAT and PAYE reconciliations.
• Prepare monthly financial and management reports for multiple entities.
• Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies and variances.
• Assist with the development and implementation of new or amended accounting systems.
• Develop, improve and document accounting procedures and business processes.
• Support the implementation and maintenance of effective internal financial controls.
• Provide accounting support to finance team members and other departments when required.
• Perform additional accounting duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

• A completed BCom degree or recognised accounting qualification.
• Completed accounting articles.
• A minimum of three years' experience in a similar accounting role.
• Practical experience using CaseWare is essential.
• Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Experience working with accounting software.

Advantageous Experience

• Experience using Sage Intacct.
• Experience managing the accounts of multiple companies or legal entities.
• Exposure to process improvement, financial systems implementation or internal controls.
