Description
About the Job: The City of Colorado Springs is seeking a talented and experienced Stormwater Engineer to join our team and oversee the design and construction projects for the Stormwater Enterprise. The ideal candidate will play a key role in planning, managing, and coordinating various design and construction projects and will work closely with other departmental stakeholders to ensure the success of these projects.
Hiring range for the Engineer I position: $71,986.30 - $86,418.13 Annually
Hiring range for the Engineer II position: $85,525.56 - $102,671.74 Annually

Key responsibilities will include:
- Manage and administer design and construction contracts for civil engineering projects for the Stormwater Enterprise Capital program
- Plan, oversee and manage the design and construction projects for Stormwater Enterprise, ensuring that all projects are completed within budget and on schedule
- Coordinate with various stakeholders, consultants, and contractors to ensure efficient project delivery
- Prepare requests for proposals and bids, lead the selection process for contracted design and construction services
- Negotiate contracts, and oversee construction inspection and testing
- Establish project schedules, monitor project budgets, and allocate resources in a manner that ensures project success
- Coordinate with stakeholders, consultants, contractors, and other city departments
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and municipal laws
- Maintain project documentation files and records, including documenting project progress, budget, and operations
- Develop standard procedures and policies related to project management
- Work with a team of project management professionals to discuss implementation strategies for the program.

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a related area of study.
- This is an entry level position and prior experience is not required.
- Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary driver’s license not subject to restrictions.

- Three years of full-time, professional experience in a related field.
- Possess, or obtain upon hire, and maintain a valid, non-probationary driver’s license not subject to restrictions.
- Possess a current Professional Engineer (PE) License
- Experience in capital project design and management
- Experience with water resource engineering projects
- Experience in procurement, contract compliance, and/ or contract administration
- Experience in bookkeeping, or managing a budget in a professional setting
- Experience working in a federal and/or municipal government setting
