Description
The Asset Manager is responsible for managing and optimizing the company’s inventory of durable medical equipment, including equipment available for rental, repair, or disposal. This position ensures that DME assets are accurately tracked, properly maintained, available when needed, and managed in accordance with company policies and applicable payer and regulatory requirements.
The Asset Manager works closely with Operations, Warehouse, Billing, Intake, Clinical, Repair, Delivery, and Compliance teams to maximize equipment utilization while controlling costs and minimizing equipment loss.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of all DME assets throughout their lifecycle.
- Track equipment from purchasing and warehouse receipt through delivery, patient use, return, repair, refurbishment, and final disposition.
- Monitor equipment location, status, serial numbers, and rental status.
- Conduct regular physical inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
- Identify lost, missing, damaged, or inactive equipment and coordinate appropriate resolution.
- Monitor equipment utilization and availability to ensure adequate inventory levels.
- opportunities to reduce unnecessary equipment expenses.
- Ensure returned equipment is thoroughly inspected and processed before being placed back into inventory.
Financial & Operational Management
- Assist with equipment budgeting, purchasing, depreciation, and replacement planning.
- Analyze equipment utilization, repair costs, rental revenue, and asset losses.
- Identify opportunities to reduce equipment acquisition, repair, storage, and replacement costs.
- Provide management with regular reports on asset utilization, inventory levels, losses, and financial performance.
- Support reconciliation between physical equipment, inventory records, and financial/accounting systems.
- Ensure equipment records and documentation are accurate and maintained according to company requirements.
- Support compliance with applicable Medicare, Medicaid, payer, accreditation, and regulatory requirements.
Compliance
- Maintain documentation related to equipment delivery, pickup, maintenance, repair, and disposition.
- Assist with internal and external audits involving DME inventory and equipment records.
- Ensure equipment is managed and maintained according to applicable manufacturer and safety requirements.
Collaboration
- Partner with Warehouse and Logistics teams to maintain accurate inventory.
- Work with Billing and Revenue Cycle teams to resolve equipment-related billing and rental issues.
- Collaborate with Intake and Clinical teams regarding equipment availability and patient needs.
- Coordinate with Repair and Maintenance personnel regarding equipment service requirements.

Requirements
Qualifications
• 2–5 years of experience in DME, medical equipment, healthcare operations, inventory management, or asset management.
• Strong understanding of DME rental and inventory processes.
• Strong Excel and data-analysis skills.
• Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to work with multiple departments and external vendors.
Preferred Experience
• Experience managing respiratory equipment, hospital beds, oxygen equipment, CPAP/BiPAP equipment, wheelchairs, or other DME.
• Familiarity with Medicare DMEPOS requirements and accreditation standards.
• Bachelor’s degree in business, Healthcare Administration, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Experience with Brightree or DME software systems.
