About The Role 

We are seeking a Managing Director to build and lead our People & Transformation offering in Benelux. This is a senior leadership role combining market development, revenue generation, client leadership and hands-on delivery, with accountability for shaping and executing transformation programmes that deliver measurable business performance. 

As Managing Director, you will establish and grow our People & Transformation presence in the Dutch market, working closely with our established Business Transformation team and senior People & Transformation leaders across EMEA. You will shape the local go-to-market strategy, develop relevant service offerings and propositions, build senior client relationships and create the foundations for a high-performing local practice. 

You will operate as a trusted advisor to C-suite and other senior executives, helping clients address complex transformation, organisational performance and change challenges. You will connect the people dimensions of transformation directly to operational and financial outcomes, ensuring that change is not treated as a standalone discipline but as an integral part of delivering sustainable business performance. 

This is a role for a commercially minded, entrepreneurial leader who can build as well as deliver. You will originate and convert opportunities, lead complex client engagements and mobilise multidisciplinary teams using capabilities from across EMEA. You will also work closely with our Benelux Strategic Communications leaders to identify opportunities that bring together transformation, people, change and communications expertise. 

You will be expected to take a broad enterprise perspective, identifying client needs and opportunities beyond the immediate People & Transformation remit and connecting the right capabilities from across FTI Consulting to address them. 

What You’ll Do 

Business Development and Client Leadership 

• Build and grow the People & Transformation business in the Netherlands, shaping the go-to-market strategy, market positioning, service offerings and value proposition. 

• Originate, shape and close new business opportunities, working with Partners and colleagues across FTI Consulting to develop and convert a strong pipeline. 

• Build and maintain trusted relationships with C-suite and other senior client stakeholders. 

• Lead complex sales cycles from opportunity identification and solution design through proposal development, commercial negotiation and close. 

• Act as a trusted advisor to senior executives on transformation, organisational performance, workforce challenges and change execution. 

• Translate complex client challenges into compelling propositions, commercially viable scopes of work and practical solutions. 

• Identify broader client needs and connect capabilities across FTI Consulting to shape integrated solutions beyond the immediate People & Transformation scope. 

• Build market presence through senior-level networking, relationship development, thought leadership and relevant market activity. 

• Collaborate closely with Benelux Strategic Communications leaders to identify and develop integrated transformation and communications opportunities. 

Client Delivery and Execution 

• Lead the design and execution of complex transformation and change programmes, with clear accountability for measurable business outcomes and sustainable adoption. 

• Diagnose organisational, workforce and performance challenges through structured assessment, analysis and senior stakeholder engagement. 

• Design end-to-end transformation programmes, including programme governance, operating structures, transformation roadmaps, change strategies and execution plans. 

• Ensure people and change interventions are directly connected to the financial, operational and strategic objectives of the transformation. 

• Advise senior executives on the organisational implications of strategic and operational change and translate these into practical interventions. 

• Work across disciplines including strategy, operations, organisation and communications to deliver coherent, enterprise-wide change programmes. 

• Maintain high standards of delivery quality, governance and client satisfaction across engagements. 

• Provide senior oversight while remaining sufficiently close to delivery to identify risks, resolve complex issues and ensure programmes achieve the intended outcomes. 

Commercial Ownership and Practice Growth 

• Own and deliver against revenue, pipeline, margin and realisation expectations for the People & Transformation offering in the Netherlands. 

• Build a sustainable pipeline of opportunities and maintain disciplined oversight of business development activity and conversion. 

• Balance investment in strategic growth with rigorous commercial management of engagements and the wider practice. 

• Oversee engagement economics, including pricing, resourcing, forecasting, margin management and commercial risk. 

• Drive effective utilisation and delivery efficiency across project teams. 

• Establish and evolve the capabilities, methodologies and propositions required to grow the practice. 

• Build delivery capacity using talent from across the wider FTI Consulting network while developing the foundations for longer-term local team growth. 

Leadership and Team Development 

• Provide visible leadership for People & Transformation in the Dutch market and contribute to the continued development of the broader EMEA practice. 

• Build, lead and inspire high-performing teams, creating clarity, accountability and a strong focus on client outcomes. 

• Coach and develop senior and junior colleagues, strengthening their consulting, commercial and transformation capabilities. 

• Create an environment that combines intellectual rigour with pragmatic execution, encouraging teams to challenge assumptions and focus on tangible outcomes. 

• Collaborate effectively across geographies, practices and disciplines to bring the best of FTI Consulting to clients. 

• Contribute to the longer-term development and scaling of the Netherlands team as the business grows.

You are a commercially minded transformation leader who combines strong business judgement with deep expertise in the people side of transformation. You understand that successful change is ultimately measured through business outcomes and can connect organisational and workforce interventions to operational, financial and strategic performance. 

You are credible with senior executives and equally comfortable originating work, shaping propositions and leading complex delivery. You take an enterprise-wide view of client challenges, recognise opportunities beyond your immediate area of expertise and know how to bring together different disciplines to create stronger solutions. 

You are entrepreneurial and comfortable operating in a build-phase environment. You can create structure where it does not yet exist, operate effectively through ambiguity and move between strategy and hands-on execution as circumstances require. Your approach to change is pragmatic, commercially grounded and focused on achieving sustainable, adopted results. 

Basic Qualifications 

• 12+ years of relevant professional experience, with a strong foundation in management consulting or advisory; relevant industry experience is advantageous. 

• Fluency in Dutch and English; additional languages are advantageous. 

• Significant experience leading complex transformation and change programmes primarily focused don the people and organisational component. 

• Proven experience leading senior client engagements and delivering sustainable, adopted outcomes. 

• Demonstrated business development success, including originating opportunities, developing propositions and closing new work. 

• Experience engaging credibly with C-suite and other senior executives on both transformation strategy and execution. 

• Strong commercial and financial acumen, with experience managing revenue, pipeline, engagement economics, margin and commercial performance. 

• Strong understanding of the financial, operational and organisational drivers of business performance and the ability to connect people interventions directly to these outcomes. 

• Ability to diagnose complex organisational and performance challenges and translate them into structured, practical transformation programmes. 

• Strong leadership presence, with the ability to influence senior stakeholders, mobilise teams and create alignment around complex transformation agendas. 

• An entrepreneurial, self-starting approach and the ability to operate effectively in an evolving, build-phase environment. 

• A pragmatic, results-oriented approach to change management, with an emphasis on tangible business outcomes rather than purely theoretical or academic approaches. 

• A strong foundational understanding of strategic communications and its role in successful transformation. 

• High levels of resilience, adaptability and comfort operating at pace and through ambiguity. 
• A recognised change management qualification is advantageous, including Prosci or equivalent.
