Job Description:

Fluence is seeking an experienced Legal Counsel to support and manage a broad range of legal matters across our European operations. As a key member of the EMEA Legal team, you will play an integral role in supporting the successful delivery of complex battery energy storage projects, from initial sales discussions through project execution and ongoing services.

This is a varied and business-focused role that combines commercial contracting, project support, corporate legal matters, and compliance activities. You will work closely with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders, helping Fluence achieve its mission of transforming the way the world is powered. The position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a fast-growing global organization while working on high-value, innovative energy projects throughout Europe.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of commercial agreements, including EPC, supply, procurement, service, and other customer and vendor contracts.
• Provide legal support throughout the customer lifecycle, from sales and contract negotiations to project delivery and after-sales services.
• Advise internal stakeholders on contractual obligations, commercial risks, and legal implications of business decisions.
• Support the management of contractual relationships with customers, suppliers, and other business partners.
• Assist with product compliance and regulatory matters relevant to energy storage projects.
• Contribute to international corporate initiatives and support a variety of general corporate legal matters across Europe.
• Review existing contractual arrangements and recommend amendments, extensions, or risk mitigation measures where necessary.
• Partner with business teams to develop practical, commercially focused legal solutions.
• Drive process improvements and contribute to the ongoing development and effectiveness of the Legal function.
• Ensure legal activities are conducted in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and ethical standards.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in a European jurisdiction.
• Minimum of 5 years of professional legal experience, gained either in-house or within a law firm environment.
• Demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing, interpreting, and negotiating complex commercial and project-based agreements.
• Experience supporting large-scale infrastructure, industrial, construction, energy, renewables, or technology projects.
• Strong understanding of contract risk allocation and contract management principles.
• Ability to assess legal risks and provide practical, business-oriented advice to stakeholders.
• Experience working in an international and cross-functional environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
• Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong commitment to ethics, compliance, and professional integrity.
• Bachelor's degree in Law (LL.B.) or equivalent legal qualification required.

• Experience in the renewable energy, energy storage, or broader energy sector.
• Knowledge of EPC contracting and procurement arrangements.
• Experience supporting multinational organizations with operations across multiple jurisdictions.
• Familiarity with corporate governance and compliance frameworks.
• Experience improving legal processes, templates, and operational efficiencies.
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
• Fluency in German and/or Polish.
• Ability to work effectively across different legal systems and regulatory environments.
• Interest in innovation and continuous improvement within legal operations.
