Middletown Animal Clinic in the Bronx is looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician Assistant to join our team.

If you already have hands-on experience in veterinary medicine and are looking for a hospital where you can continue building your skills, work alongside an experienced medical team, and become an important part of the day-to-day care of our patients, we’d love to meet you.

This is not an entry-level veterinary assistant position. We’re looking for someone who is already comfortable in a veterinary hospital environment, understands the pace of patient care, and is ready to jump in alongside our doctors and support team.

Pay:

• Veterinary Technician Assistants: $21.00–$25.00/hour, based on experience

Hours: Approximately 35 hours per week
Weekday Schedule: Approximately 9:30 AM–7:00 PM
Saturday Schedule: Approximately 8:30 AM–2:00 PM

What You'll Be Doing

Your day may include:

• Supporting veterinarians during appointments, treatments, and procedures

• Assisting LVTs and DVMs with surgical and dental patients

• Venipuncture and blood collection

• IV catheter placement

• Running in-house laboratory testing

• Preparing and administering medications and treatments as directed

• Assisting with digital radiographs

• Monitoring patients before, during, and after procedures based on experience

• Providing compassionate restraint and patient handling

• Supporting hospitalized and recovering patients

• Maintaining clean, organized treatment and patient-care areas

• Communicating and collaborating with doctors, technicians, assistants, and our client service team

We want our veterinary support team using the skills they already have while continuing to develop new ones.

What We're Looking For

We’d love to meet someone with previous hands-on experience in a veterinary hospital who is:

• Comfortable working with dogs and cats in a clinical setting

• Experienced with common veterinary treatments and patient care

• Confident with skills such as venipuncture, laboratory work, patient restraint, and assisting with procedures

• Comfortable in a busy hospital environment

• Compassionate and thoughtful when handling fearful, nervous, or stressed patients

• Dependable and able to work collaboratively with a team

• Organized and able to shift priorities when patient needs change

• Interested in continuing to learn and grow within veterinary medicine

Have additional experience with IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, surgery, dentistry, or dental radiography? Even better. We’d love to hear more about the skills you can bring to the team.
