Position Overview

The Assistant Softball Coach in the Athletics Department reporting to the Head Coach, is responsible for supporting the Head Coach in leading, developing, and maintaining an effective and competitive NCAA Division III Softball program at Endicott College. Key responsibilities include teaching game skills and strategies, assisting with all aspects of program operations, and actively executing a comprehensive recruitment and retention strategy to attract high-caliber student-athletes.

Key Responsibilities

Program Operations & Game Preparation (75%)

• Assist in planning, organizing, and executing daily practice sessions and game-day operations.
• Contribute to in-game decision-making, strategic planning, and tactical adjustments.
• Develop and organize opponent scouting reports to support team game preparation.
• Mentor and instruct student-athletes on the skills and strategies necessary for competitive success.

Recruiting & Prospect Engagement (25%)

• Execute an active recruiting strategy to attract outstanding student-athletes both in-region and out-of-region.
• Attend local, regional, and national recruiting events and showcases.
• Coordinate, schedule, and host prospective student-athlete campus visits and prospect clinics.
• Maintain regular outreach to prospective student-athletes via phone, text, and email.

Community Engagement
 

• Be an active participant in the life of the College by attending and supporting key events like Commencement, Homecoming, and other all-hands-on-deck gatherings. Show a spirit of collaboration and community involvement, including volunteering when possible.

Reporting Structure

Reports to the Head Softball Coach in the Athletic Department. Works under general supervision.

Qualifications and Skills

• Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
• Experience: Previous coaching, teaching, or recruiting experience at the collegiate, high school, or club level.
• NCAA Compliance: Knowledge and understanding of NCAA Division III rules regarding recruiting and student-athlete eligibility.
• Schedule: Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including days, evenings, weekends, and travel for games/recruiting events.

In compliance with Massachusetts pay transparency law, the pay range for this position is $2500 - 3000 per season. This range reflects base pay only and does not include other potential compensation or benefits.
