Job Description:
Construction Manager
About the Role
Construction Manager contributes to Hitachi’s responsibility to plan, manage and carry out installations in a railway environment, including site readiness, installation approvals, SAT support and handover to system integration and operation. Its specific contribution is to coordinate construction and installation activities, logistics, possessions/access, contractor performance and HSE implementation.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and control daily/weekly construction activities, workforce deployment, subcontractor performance and installation productivity.
Ensure work follows approved drawings, RAMS, ITPs, permits, HSE controls, quality records and configuration-controlled changes.
Coordinate materials readiness, site interfaces, civil constraints, access conflicts and handover to testing.
Lead construction problem-solving, NCR correction, rework control and escalation of safety/quality/schedule risks.
Maintain progress evidence, installation records, as-built inputs and commissioning-readiness information.
Apply the Hitachi Code of Conduct in role-specific decisions, including ethical escalation, anti-bribery discipline, confidentiality, data protection, fair supplier/customer conduct and transparent records.
Coordinate construction and installation activities, logistics, possessions/access, contractor performance and HSE implementation.
Operational authority for site construction coordination, contractor control and daily issue resolution within approved work packages.
Key Interfaces
Implementation Manager, Site Manager, Installation Supervisors, HSE Manager and Quality Engineer.
Work Package Leaders, Installation Design Manager, suppliers, subcontractors and logistics teams.
Customer site representatives and infrastructure owner access teams.
Quantity Surveyor.
Weekly construction meetings.
HSE/risk reviews.
Authority & Accountability
Accountable for safe and quality-controlled construction execution within assigned scope.
Authorised to manage site priorities, allocate construction tasks and stop non-compliant work.
Escalates design, access, material or subcontractor constraints to Implementation Manager.
Mandate
Execute site works so installation outputs are safe, complete, inspected and ready for T&C.
Skills & Experience
Construction or installation management experience in rail, telecoms, electrical or infrastructure works.
Strong understanding of permits, RAMS, inspections, site sequencing and subcontractor control.
Ability to drive productivity without compromising safety or quality.
Resilience and resistance to stress during site constraints, access windows and rework pressure.
Visible site leadership and disciplined record control.
More than 7 years in construction/installation leadership on complex rail or infrastructure Projects.
