Description
This role is ideal for someone who is comfortable working close to the operation, who can set criteria and guide analysts day to day, and who wants ownership over the quality of an entire AML/CFT operation rather than a single process.
Challenges that await you:
- Supervise the SME AML/CFT operations teams, including agents and supervisors, with a focus on the quality of processes, decisions, and documentation. This will be the core responsibility of the role.
- Own the quality of transactional monitoring alert analysis and of client onboarding decisions, making sure every case is properly analyzed, escalated when needed, and documented.
- Act as the point of contact between the first and second line of defense, resolving criteria questions coming from the operation.
- Set, communicate, and enforce clear analysis criteria, and make sure the teams understand the typologies and the regulation behind them.
- Identify quality gaps and recurring errors in the operation, and drive the corrective actions and training needed to close them.
- Prepare periodic reports for senior management on the performance and health of the SME AML/CFT operation, including volumes, backlog, quality indicators, and risk trends.
- Coordinate with the owners of the AML/CFT policies and program so that what is written is what is executed, and flag where policy needs to change based on what actually happens in the operation.
- Support the preparation of information for internal and external reviews, audits, and requirements from authorities.
- Bachelor's Degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- 5+ years of proven experience running AML/CFT operations in the financial sector.
- Valid AML/CFT certification issued by the CNBV (mandatory).
- Proven experience leading and developing teams, including setting criteria, giving feedback, and managing performance.
- Solid knowledge of Mexico's AML/CFT framework, KYC/KYB regulation, and transactional monitoring practices.
- Advanced English and Spanish (mandatory).
- Ability to translate regulation into practical criteria that an operational team can execute.
- Comfortable building reports and indicators for senior management.
- Strong sense of ownership over quality, and accountability for the results of the team.
- Highly organized with excellent attention to detail.
- Experience with SME or business banking clients.
- Proficiency with transaction monitoring software.
- Experience designing or calibrating transactional monitoring rules.
- Experience as liaison between corporations and regulatory agencies.
- Knowledge of the applicable regulation to Designated Non-Financial Professions and Businesses (Actividades Vulnerables).
