Senior SAP S/4HANA Finance & Tax Transformation Expert (Freelance, Remote EU/CH)

We are supporting a global S/4HANA rollout program for an international organization. As part of the ongoing deployment activities, we are looking for experienced SAP Finance & Tax experts to support the rollout of the global template across multiple countries and business units.

The focus of the role is to assess local Finance and Tax requirements, align them with the global S/4HANA template, and ensure compliant and efficient solutions across different jurisdictions. The consultant will work closely with Finance, Tax, IT, and business stakeholders throughout the deployment lifecycle.

## Tasks

• Support the Finance Deployment Stream within a global S/4HANA rollout program as a Finance & Tax process specialist.
• Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Finance and Tax processes across all project phases.
• Drive and support deployment activities throughout the full rollout lifecycle (fit-gap, design, build, test, go-live, hypercare).
• Assess local Finance and Tax requirements and align them with the global S/4HANA template.
• Ensure alignment and coordination across parallel rollouts, countries, and workstreams.
• Analyze, optimize, and safeguard business processes with a focus on efficiency, scalability, and compliance.
• Lead process alignment, fit-gap, and solution design workshops with business stakeholders.
• Ensure adherence to global template standards, governance, and solution architecture principles.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Finance, Tax, IT, Business) to ensure end-to-end integration.
• Support the design and deployment of tax-related solutions, including tax determination, reporting, and compliance processes.
• Support country-specific localization requirements and statutory compliance obligations.
• Contribute to digital compliance initiatives such as e-invoicing, e-reporting, and statutory reporting.
• Act as a trusted advisor for tax-related solution design decisions within the global S/4HANA landscape.

## Requirements

• 8+ years of SAP Finance and Tax consulting experience.
• Proven track record in SAP ERP and S/4HANA transformation programs across the full project lifecycle.
• Deep expertise in SAP Tax for EU and global regions, including Indirect Taxes (VAT/GST), Withholding Taxes, SAP DRC, and country-specific localizations.
• Strong knowledge of EU VAT regulations and international tax determination concepts.
• Experience with country-specific legal requirements, localization projects, and statutory reporting obligations.
• Hands-on experience with tax engines and external tax determination solutions (e.g., Vertex, Thomson Reuters OneSource, or similar).
• Strong understanding of e-invoicing, e-reporting, and digital tax compliance frameworks in global environments.
• Proven experience in international, multi-country S/4HANA rollouts and template deployments.
• Experience acting as Lead Consultant, Solution Architect, or senior SME in complex international transformation programs.
• Strong understanding of end-to-end Finance processes and tax-relevant integration points across FI, SD, and MM.
• Proven ability to design scalable and compliant tax solutions within global SAP templates.
• Excellent stakeholder management and workshop facilitation skills.
• Fluent English (spoken and written).
