Senior Director, Solutions Architecture

Responsibilities

We are seeking a Lead Solution Architect (LSA) to lead the development of differentiated, technically credible, and executable solutions for complex Federal Government opportunities. This is a Senior Director-level leadership role for a technology executive who can connect customer mission needs, enterprise architecture, modernization strategy, delivery execution, and business growth.

 

The LSA will serve as a senior technical and strategic advisor throughout the opportunity lifecycle—working closely with Capture, Business Development, Program Leadership, Engineering, Pricing, and executive stakeholders to translate customer requirements into compelling solutions designed to perform against evaluation criteria and deliver measurable customer outcomes.

 

The ideal candidate brings deep experience leading large-scale Federal technology programs, enterprise modernization, cloud solutions, software engineering organizations, and competitive business development efforts, with the executive presence to engage directly with senior government customers and internal leadership.

 

What You’ll Do

• Lead end-to-end solution development for complex Federal Government opportunities, from customer requirements and solution strategy through proposal submission and transition to execution.
• Establish the technical and architectural vision for solutions spanning enterprise applications, cloud modernization, software development, systems integration, data, AI-enabled capabilities, and digital transformation.
• Lead multidisciplinary Solution Teams and direct technical, engineering, architecture, and subject matter expert contributions to develop a cohesive solution.
• Translate customer mission needs, requirements, and proposal evaluation criteria into a compliant, differentiated, and executable technical approach.
• Partner with Capture and Business Development leadership to shape win strategies, solution discriminators, pricing approaches, and customer engagement strategies.
• Develop and articulate solution strengths, technical discriminators, modernization approaches, and measurable business outcomes.
• Engage directly with senior government executives, contracting officers, and customer stakeholders to understand priorities, shape requirements, and position solutions for long-term program success.
• Ensure proposed solutions are operationally executable by considering architecture, delivery model, staffing, technology, cost, schedule, risk, governance, and transition requirements.
• Lead solution reviews and executive-level technical presentations, translating complex technology concepts into clear business and mission outcomes.
• Provide technical leadership across RFI/RFP responses, white papers, demonstrations, prototypes, customer briefings, and other business development activities.
• Apply emerging technologies—including Generative AI, cloud, automation, analytics, and modern software engineering practices—where they create meaningful customer and business value.
• Develop reusable solution approaches, architectures, collateral, and methodologies that strengthen the organization's broader capture and delivery capabilities.
• Serve as a senior technical advisor to executive leadership on technology strategy, investment priorities, customer needs, solution risk, and growth opportunities.

Leadership Scope

This role will operate at the intersection of technology, customer strategy, delivery, and growth. The successful candidate will be expected to influence across organizational boundaries, lead senior technical professionals, and establish credibility with both government executives and internal business leaders.

 

The role requires someone who can move comfortably from executive strategy to architectural detail, while maintaining focus on customer outcomes, competitive differentiation, and successful program execution.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• 18+ years of progressive experience in technology leadership, enterprise architecture, solution development, program management, software engineering, or related disciplines.
• Demonstrated experience leading large-scale Federal Government technology programs and modernization initiatives.
• Proven experience developing and presenting technical solutions for RFI/RFP and competitive business development opportunities.
• Strong experience with enterprise architecture, cloud modernization, software development, systems integration, and digital transformation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead large, multidisciplinary technical and program organizations.
• Experience translating complex customer requirements into compliant, differentiated, and executable solutions.
• Demonstrated experience partnering with Business Development and Capture organizations on solution strategy, proposal development, pricing, and customer engagement.
• Strong understanding of the relationship between customer requirements, evaluation criteria, technical solution, pricing, staffing, delivery, and contract execution.
• Experience engaging directly with senior Federal Government executives, contracting officers, and customer stakeholders.
• Ability to communicate complex technical strategies and architectures to both technical and executive audiences.
• Demonstrated business acumen, including experience with budgets, financial modeling, pricing, P&L, or business growth.
• Experience leading organizational transformation and building high-performing, geographically distributed teams.
• Strong executive presence, written communication, presentation, facilitation, and relationship-building skills.
• U.S. Citizenship

Preferred Qualifications 

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Business, or a related discipline.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
• Experience supporting DoD, VA, DLA, MHS, or other major Federal agencies.
• Experience with FedRAMP-authorized cloud environments and Federal SaaS solutions.
• Experience with Generative AI, AI-enabled solutions, automation, analytics, or modern application development.
• Experience developing prototypes, demonstrations, solution collateral, or reusable architectures for capture activities.
• Experience managing programs or organizations exceeding $100M in annual value and/or teams of 100+ professionals.
• Experience with major ERP/HCM modernization, enterprise applications, or large-scale systems integration.

Target Salary Range

$190,000 - $304,000. This represents the typical salary range for this position. Salary is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the scope and responsibilities of the position, the individual’s experience, education, knowledge, skills, and competencies, as well as geographic location and business and contract considerations. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay.
