Texas A&M University's Department of Biology is seeking a Research Assistant to provide technical and administrative support for research projects. This position assists with the planning and execution of experiments, data collection and analysis, maintenance of laboratory records, operation of research equipment, and general laboratory activities. The Research Assistant also supports grant and manuscript preparation, collaborates with research personnel, and assists in training students and laboratory staff.
Opportunities to Contribute
Assists in the design, coordination, execution, analysis, and evaluation of research experiments, applying standard research techniques and maintaining detailed records of methods, data, and results.
Uses laboratory, technical, and computer-based tools to perform data collection, statistical analysis, technical evaluations, and preparation of research findings for reports, publications, grant proposals, and presentations.
Performs general laboratory operations, including equipment maintenance, purchasing, autoclave operation, animal care, and ensuring efficient day-to-day laboratory support.
Coordinates research-related meetings and special events by arranging facilities, equipment, and logistical support.
Maintains accurate laboratory documentation and research records while contributing to manuscripts, grant proposals, and dissemination of research findings.
Trains and mentors new laboratory personnel, students, and research staff on laboratory procedures, protocols, and best practices.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:
Knowledge of computers and computer software related to the position.
Knowledge of laboratory maintenance and equipment.
Attention to detail.
Salary: Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.
