Salary Range:
$14.00 - $50.00DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS OF WORK
Recreation Leaders are responsible for supervising participants and providing a safe and harmonious atmosphere. Must be able to implement programs designated by the supervisory staff. Must be able to maintain the interest and provide instruction to the participants in whatever activity they are involved.
ESSENTIAL EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
The following illustrates examples of some of the essential duties and responsibilities of the Recreation Leader I P/T. There may be other essential functions, not listed below, in order to accomplish the tasks as presented by the Supervisor
• Supervise a group of participants.
• Instruct participants in various activities.
• Carry out all assignments given by the supervisory staff.
• Assist with record keeping such as attendance and other assigned forms.
• Implement program components as assigned.
• Report to supervisory staff all incidents involving participants.
• Uphold all City of Hialeah policies and procedures including those related to safety and risk management.
• Perform any other tasks assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
• Must possess good communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Must be able to assist participants with any aspects of the position.
• Ability to provide instructions to participants at a basic level.
• Must attend required training sessions to implement program components.
PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS
The following are some of the physical requirements associated with this position. Reasonable accommodation may be made by the City to enable an individual to perform the essential duties/functions of the position.
• Must be physically able to operate a variety of machinery and equipment such as hand tools, etc.
• Must be able to see and distinguish colors, hear and smell.
• Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Work involves walking more than a mile per day, climbing stairs and ladders, moving, reaching, handling, bending, and stooping for periods of time.
• Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of 25 to 50 pounds.
MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must possess a valid driver license.
• Bilingual is preferred.
