Keyera is seeking an accomplished and strategic Senior Manager, Total Rewards to shape and lead an integrated enterprise approach to compensation, benefits, retirement, disability management, and employee well-being. This role ensures that Keyera’s Total Rewards strategies attract, retain, engage, and motivate talent while supporting the organization’s business objectives, culture, and employee value proposition. Working closely with HR, Finance, business leaders, and external partners, this role will translate business and talent priorities into competitive, equitable, compliant, and financially sustainable reward strategies. As a key member of the HR leadership team, the Senior Manager will provide trusted advice to senior leaders, oversee annual reward programs, strengthen governance and analytics, and lead a high-performing team of HR professionals.
Strategy & Execution:
- Develop and execute an integrated Total Rewards strategy aligned with business objectives, talent priorities, organizational values, and the employee value proposition.
- Provide strategic oversight and governance across Keyera’s Total Rewards framework—including job family architecture, compensation, recognition, benefits, retirement, disability management, and well-being—to maintain internal equity, external competitiveness, and policy alignment.
- Ensure benefits and retirement programs are competitive, cost-effective, compliant, well governed, and effectively administered.
- Oversee the organization’s disability management programs, including safe, timely, and sustainable return-to-work practices in partnership with employees, leaders, HR, insurers, medical providers, and other stakeholders.
- Provide oversight of vendor relationships, contracts, service levels, renewals, and program performance.
- Use workforce, market, and financial data to assess program effectiveness, model alternatives, identify risks, and recommend improvements.
- Partner with HR Talent & Operations teams to optimize systems, data integrity, reporting, and the overall employee experience.
Leadership:
- Lead and support a team of Total Rewards professionals, setting clear strategic priorities and accountabilities that drive integrated results.
- Maintain a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on strategic partnership, technical excellence, operational discipline, and continuous improvement.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders on complex Total Rewards and Recognition matters.
- Translate business strategy and workforce priorities into clear Total Rewards recommendations that balance employee value, market competitiveness, risk, and affordability.
- Lead change management and communication for new or evolving total reward programs, ensuring leaders and employees understand program intent and application.
Collaboration:
- Partner with HR leadership and HR Business Partners to ensure a consistent “one HR” approach and effective application of Total Rewards programs across the organization.
- Collaborate with Finance, Legal, Payroll, Communications, and other business leaders to support sound governance, accurate delivery, and informed decision-making.
- Oversee the development of decision-ready Executive and Board materials that provide clear analysis, market insights, key risks, and recommendations.
Continuous Improvement:
- Monitor legislative, regulatory, market, and industry developments and proactively assess their implications for Total Rewards strategy and programs.
- Establish key performance indicators and dashboards to measure competitiveness, employee value, program utilization, service quality, cost, risk, and return on investment.
- Benchmark practices and lead evidence-based improvements that simplify processes, strengthen controls, enhance the employee experience, and improve program outcomes.
- Maintain current policies, procedures, governance frameworks, and communication materials across the Total Rewards portfolio.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Economics, or a related field; energy industry experience is considered an asset.
- 10+ years of progressive HR experience, including significant leadership experience in Total Rewards and/or HR Operations.
- Demonstrated experience leading annual Total Rewards cycles and developing clear recommendations for senior executives and Boards.
- Expertise in Total Rewards strategy development with strong knowledge of applicable employment, tax, pension, benefits, privacy, and federal pay equity requirements.
- Strong knowledge of disability management, workplace accommodation, return-to-work practices, privacy requirements, and related human rights obligations.
- Strategic thinker with strong business and financial acumen and the ability to balance market competitiveness, internal equity, employee value, risk, and affordability.
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams and manage complex cross-functional initiatives.
- Exceptional executive communication, consultation, influence, and relationship-building skills to build alignment across the organization.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through transformation, implementing new ways of working while building organizational capability and resilience.
- Data-driven leader with a proven ability to use metrics and insights to inform decisions, improve performance, and drive accountability.
- A professional designation such as CCP, CEBS, CHRP/CPHR, or equivalent is considered an asset.
