Role: Senior Consultant – Accounts & Finance, Delhi
Experience: 5- 7 years
Salary: Upto 12 LPA
Note: This is a full-time, fixed-term consultancy role for 2 years.

About the role:
We are looking for an experienced Senior Consultant – Accounts & Finance to lead financial management, accounting, compliance, budgeting, and reporting. The role requires strong financial expertise, independent ownership, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders.
Key Responsibility:
1. Financial Planning & Budgeting
- Lead the preparation, review, and monitoring of annual and project-specific budgets.
- Track budgets, expenditure, cash flows, and financial forecasts.
- Analyse financial performance and provide insights to support programme-level decision-making.
- Identify potential budgetary risks and recommend corrective actions.
2. Accounting & Financial Management
- Oversee accurate and timely accounting and bookkeeping in line with established financial policies and procedures.
- Review financial transactions, supporting documentation, reconciliations, and financial records.
- Ensure proper documentation and maintenance of financial records.
- Strengthen financial processes and systems to improve accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.
3. Grants & Donor Financial Management
- Monitor grant allocations, utilisation, expenditure, and forecasts against approved budgets.
- Ensure compliance with donor-specific financial requirements.
- Coordinate preparation and submission of donor financial reports.
- Provide financial management support to participating partner organisations, where required.
4. Statutory Compliance & Financial Controls
- Ensure compliance with applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, including FCRA, TDS, GST, Income Tax, and audit requirements, as applicable.
- Review and strengthen internal financial controls, processes, and documentation.
- Identify financial and compliance risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
- Ensure timely resolution of compliance-related issues.
5. Audit & Financial Reporting
- Coordinate statutory, internal, and donor audits.
- Prepare and review financial documentation required for audits.
- Coordinate responses to audit observations and queries.
- Track and ensure timely closure of audit requirements.
- Support preparation of accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
6. Procurement, Contracts & Vendor Management
- Provide financial oversight to procurement and payment processes.
- Review the financial aspects of contracts, service agreements, and engagements with vendors, consultants, and partners.
- Ensure appropriate supporting documentation and compliance with applicable policies.
- Review and facilitate timely vendor and consultant payments.
7. Partner Financial Capacity Building
- Provide financial and grant-management guidance to participating organisations, where required.
- Support partners in strengthening budgeting, financial documentation, compliance, and reporting practices.
- Contribute to developing common financial processes, tools, and systems across the initiative.
- Build the financial management capacity of partner organisations through guidance and knowledge-sharing.
Qualifications, Experience & Technical Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Management, or a related discipline.
- Master's degree or relevant professional qualification such as CA/ACCA/CMA will be an advantage.
- 5–7 years of relevant experience in finance and accounts, preferably within the non-profit, development, education, or social-impact sector.
- Strong understanding of FCRA, TDS, GST, Income Tax, audit processes, and applicable statutory requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in financial management, budgeting and forecasting, financial reporting, grants/donor management, audit coordination, statutory compliance, procurement, and financial controls.
- Experience working with donors, development partners, consortiums, or multi-stakeholder initiatives will be an advantage.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, including financial analysis, budgeting, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in accounting and financial management software such as Tally, Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
- Ability to analyse financial data, prepare financial reports, monitor budgets and cash flows, and provide actionable financial insights.
- Strong skills in financial controls, bookkeeping, reconciliations, documentation, and audit readiness.
