Job Description Summary:
Provide strategic leadership for Diffusion, Implant, RTP, Pumps, Chillers & Abatement and MFG Tech categories procurement across Micron's global front-end manufacturing network. The role is responsible for category strategy, supplier management, commercial negotiations, capital equipment affordability, and technology roadmap alignment while ensuring supply assurance and execution excellence.
Job Description:
Category & Supplier Strategy
- Own sourcing and category strategies for Diffusion, Implant, RTP, Pumps, Chillers & Abatement and MFG Tech equipment suppliers.
- Develop long-term supplier roadmaps aligned with Micron technology and manufacturing objectives.
- Drive supplier competitiveness, capability, innovation and risk mitigation strategies.
- Lead executive supplier reviews and strategic business planning activities.
Commercial Leadership
- Lead complex commercial negotiations involving capital equipment purchases, service agreements, capacity commitments and strategic partnerships.
- Deliver sustainable cost improvements, productivity gains and capital efficiency.
- Establish and govern commercial frameworks supporting business growth and technology transitions.
Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner with Technology Development, HVM Operations, Manufacturing, Finance, Planning and Legal teams.
- Translate business requirements into supplier strategies and commercial solutions.
- Support node development, fab expansion and ramp readiness activities.
Supply Assurance & Risk Management
- Ensure equipment availability supports technology development and HVM ramp schedules.
- Identify and mitigate capacity, supply continuity and geopolitical risks.
- Develop contingency and business continuity plans for critical suppliers.
Team Leadership
- Lead and develop procurement professionals supporting the category.
- Build succession capability and technical-commercial expertise within the organization.
- Drive a high-performance and customer-focused culture.
Scope
- Global responsibility for Diffusion, Implant, RTP, Pumps, Chillers & Abatement and MFG Tech categories
- Strategic engagement with major semiconductor equipment suppliers.
- Direct influence on capital spending, supplier performance and technology readiness.
- Leadership of a global procurement team supporting multiple sites and stakeholders.
Job requirements & preferred experiences:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Microelectronics, Business Administration, Engineering Management, or related field, followed by >10 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in job offered or in a Process Engineering or Supply Chain-related occupation.
Technical Skills
- * Strong experience in supplier management and commercial negotiations, including contract execution, price benchmarking, and total cost of ownership (TCO) analysis within a semiconductor or capital equipment environment.
- Proven capability in supplier qualification, performance management, and RFQ execution, with hands-on experience driving cost, quality, and delivery improvements across assigned supplier portfolios.
- Working knowledge of front-end capital equipment procurement (e.g., wafer fab tools, modules, or subsystems), with ability to balance technical and commercial trade-offs in supplier engagements.
Soft Skills (Including People Leadership)
- * Proven people management and team leadership experience, with ability to coach and develop Category/Supplier Managers, set clear priorities, and drive accountability in delivering team and organizational objectives.
- Strong stakeholder management and cross-functional collaboration skills, with ability to align engineering, operations, and procurement teams to execute sourcing strategies effectively.
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving capability, with ability to translate data, supplier performance insights, and market intelligence into actionable plans and drive issue resolution.
- Clear and effective communication skills, with ability to present business updates, risks, and recommendations to leadership and guide team members in structured communication.
- Experience managing a team of >5 sourcing or supplier managers in a global or multi-site environment
- Track record of building high-performing teams and improving team capability/productivity
AI / Digital Capability
- * Ability to leverage digital procurement tools and AI-enabled analytics (e.g., spend analytics, dashboards, data visualization, or AI-assisted insights) to enhance supplier management, improve decision-making, and drive operational efficiency within the team.
