Global Procurement – Front End & Back End Materials
As the Senior Manager, Global Industrial Gas Category, you will lead the development and execution of Micron's worldwide Industrial Gas category strategy supporting both Front End and Back End manufacturing networks.
You will be responsible for establishing long-term category roadmaps, securing resilient supply chains, developing strategic supplier partnerships, driving commercial excellence, and ensuring alignment between supplier capabilities and Micron's manufacturing and technology requirements. This role is also responsible for the global sourcing strategy, supplier management, and commercial leadership for Industrial Gases, with a focus on leveraging AI.
This role combines category strategy leadership, executive supplier management, risk mitigation, commercial negotiations, manufacturing support, sustainability leadership, and talent development. You will partner closely with Manufacturing, Facilities, Technology Development, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, Legal, and Executive Leadership teams to enable Micron's growth objectives while delivering world-class cost, supply, quality, and sustainability outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Category Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive global Industrial Gas category strategy and multi-year roadmap aligned with Micron's business, technology, manufacturing, sustainability, and growth objectives.
- Balance cost competitiveness, supply assurance, technology enablement, sustainability, supplier innovation, and risk mitigation within category plans.
- Drive one-category, one-company sourcing strategies across all regions and sites.
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives, supplier segmentation, category optimization, and supplier capability development.
- Develop category plans balancing cost competitiveness, Supply assurance, Technology enablement, Sustainability, Supplier innovation, and Risk mitigation
Strategic Supplier Management
- Establish executive-level relationships and serve as executive sponsor for strategic suppliers.
- Lead supplier business reviews and executive governance forums.
- Develop long-term supplier partnership strategies that influence supplier investments and capacity plans.
- Align supplier technology roadmaps and category strategies with Micron's manufacturing, expansion, and technology strategies.
Commercial & Negotiation Leadership
- Lead global negotiations involving long-term Supply Agreements (LTA), Capacity Reservation Agreements, infrastructure investments, pricing mechanisms, sustainability agreements, and joint development initiatives
- Drive cost reductions, cost avoidance, total cost of ownership improvements, working capital optimization, and business value creation
- Utilize market intelligence, benchmarking, should-cost modeling, supplier economics analysis, and industry trend analysis to support strategic decision-making.
Supply Assurance & Risk Management
- Develop comprehensive supply continuity, dual-source qualification, supplier risk management, and contingency planning strategies addressing geopolitical, operational, capacity, raw material, and transportation risks.
- Partner with manufacturing teams during crisis management situations.
- Ensure uninterrupted supply support for global operations.
Sustainability & Innovation
- Lead initiatives supporting decarbonization, gas recycling, resource efficiency, environmental compliance, and circular economy solutions, and develop strategic partnerships to enable sustainable manufacturing growth.
- Drive supplier innovation programs focused on improving cost, supply resilience, environmental performance, and operational effectiveness.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Build, coach, and develop a high-performing global category organization, including Category Supplier Managers and Global Supplier Managers.
- Drive succession planning, capability development, accountability, collaboration, innovation, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain, Business, Operations Management, Chemistry, Materials Science, or related discipline.
- Significant experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain, engineering, manufacturing, or operations leadership.
- Experience leading global sourcing strategies and supplier negotiations.
- Demonstrated success managing strategic supplier relationships and complex business negotiations with strong analytical, financial, and commercial acumen.
- Experience influencing and collaborating across global organizations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Semiconductor industry experience.
- Experience leading geographically dispersed teams.
- Industrial gas, specialty gas, chemical, materials, facilities, utilities, or capital equipment sourcing experience.
- Experience supporting global manufacturing expansions and technology transitions, and experience supporting Front End and/or Back End manufacturing operations
- MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.
