Job Description Summary

As Lead Engineer, Product Plant Support, you will provide engineering support to our blade manufacturing plants (for both offshore and onshore blades).
The Lead Engineer will be responsible for assessing non-standard repair or defect cases and developing an effective response with other members of the team. From this perspective the desired candidate should have a good understanding of the design and failure modes associated with composite structures.
You will be also asked to identify and pursue opportunities for continuous improvement relating to the blade designs being produced and provide support during launching of new products and technologies in the plants.

The position is based in Vadodara plant but will also have a mandate to support similar operations within their region.

Job Description

Key responsibilities and deliverables include:

Main responsibilities below but not limited to:

• Assures the use of approved materials and methods that are within the specifications, assure that design intent is preserved on the product
• Handle production and service deviations using prior experience and on-the-job training
• Developing in-depth knowledge of a technical discipline. Uses prior experience and acquired technical expertise to execute strategy
• Provides support to factories for variety of quality and production issues – look for improvement opportunity on blade design or defect handling approaches
• Primary responsible for the factory in the region, backup for all other factories
• Support new start-up/ramp-up for the factory
• Support with new repair methods development
• Provide repair audit (Global Repair Audit)
• Support First Article Inspections

Required Qualifications:

• A Degree in a field relevant to development or manufacturing of wind turbine bladesGood knowledge of wind turbine blade designs, manufacturing processes & operations
• Be willing to travel, up to 20 weeks traveling per year
• Auto-CAD, Basic structural calculations and FEA, Mini-tab is preferred
• Strong English language skill (verbal and writing)
