About Our Family

We are a close-knit, busy family of four (soon to be five!) with grandparents just a short walk down the street. Our oldest heads to preschool each weekday morning, while our toddler stays home, and we are expecting a new baby in early fall. Our household runs on love and routine, but with a demanding medical schedule on one end and part-time remote work on the other, the day-to-day can move quickly and require a great deal of coordination behind the scenes.

While this role is centered around supporting our immediate household, it also includes helping us stay connected with nearby grandparents through occasional check-ins and thoughtful assistance when needed. We are looking for someone who thrives on bringing calm, structure, and organization to a busy household so we can spend more time being present with our children and extended family. We hope to find someone who becomes a trusted, long-term presence in our family's life.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

The most important part of this role is the safety and well-being of our children. You have excellent judgment, remain calm under pressure, and understand that keeping children safe requires constant awareness, thoughtful decision-making, and proactive supervision. You genuinely enjoy spending time with young children and naturally engage them through conversation, imaginative play, outdoor activities, reading, and hands-on experiences. You understand how to create structure while making children feel seen, supported, and loved.

You are just as comfortable coordinating vendors, managing calendars, running errands, and keeping the home maintained as you are helping the children navigate their day. You notice what needs to be done before someone has to ask and take pride in creating systems that help a busy household function smoothly. You are confident enough to take ownership when needed, and intuitive enough to know when to step back and support from behind the scenes. Above all, you are dependable, emotionally steady, and someone we can trust completely.

Key Responsibilities

Family Support & Child Assistance

  • Provide attentive, engaged childcare and light supervision as needed throughout the day
  • Assist with school drop-offs and pick-ups on a flexible, as-needed basis
  • Prepare backpacks, clothing, and snacks the night before or morning of school
  • Engage children in age-appropriate activities, outings, and imaginative play
  • Support the family during the postpartum period, with flexibility as the household dynamic evolves
  • Assist nearby family members as needs arise (introduced gradually over time)

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Perform daily resets in primary hot zones (e.g., mudroom, kitchen, living room, primary bedroom)
  • Tidy home throughout the day (e.g., dishes, surfaces, vacuuming high-traffic areas, kids' areas)
  • Create, implement, and maintain organizational systems throughout the home
  • Help build a household playbook covering recurring tasks, seasonal maintenance, and ongoing projects
  • Manage seasonal swaps for children's clothing (e.g., sort, store, label, and donate outgrown items)
  • Prepare and coordinate donation drop-offs
  • Set up the home for guests, including refreshing guest bedrooms and linens
  • Support packing and unpacking for family travel and help reset the home afterward
  • Change batteries, light bulbs, smoke detectors, air purifier filters, and other routine maintenance items

Meal Support

  • Wash and chop produce, prepare ingredients, and have dinner components ready for the family to assemble
  • Batch prep snacks and healthy staples as needed
  • Prepare breakfast and pack lunches for the children
  • Assist with keeping the children engaged and entertained during dinner prep time
  • Maintain a clean and tidy kitchen throughout the day

Laundry & Linens

  • Wash, fold, and organize laundry for the household
  • Hang dry items requiring special care
  • Rotate linens weekly, including stripping and remaking beds
  • Maintain a tidy and well-stocked laundry area

Inventory & Errands

  • Monitor, organize, and restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies
  • Manage household orders via online platforms
  • Handle occasional returns
  • Bring in packages, note package arrivals, and break down boxes
  • Perform occasional grocery pickup or in-store shopping as needed

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for contractors and service providers
  • Research vendors, coordinate repairs, and gather quotes for family review
  • Oversee service providers during home appointments
  • Help build and maintain a seasonal home maintenance calendar

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Deep clean high-use appliances (e.g., refrigerator, oven, stovetop, microwave)
  • Proactively notice and address areas that need a deeper clean
  • Perform organizational projects as needed (e.g., toy storage, gear, play areas)
