About Our Family

We are a busy, close-knit family with three children and a lifestyle that keeps us on the go. We homeschool and travel extensively throughout the year, often spending several days at a time on the road for work and family adventures. When we are home, we love being outside, swimming, biking, walking, reading, listening to podcasts, playing games, and simply spending time together. We are also foster parents and welcome children into our home for short-term placements as often as we can. Our home can get loud and chaotic as it is a gathering space for friends, family, and neighbors, but we try to keep it intentionally calm, clean and full of fun. We value family connection, healthy living, hard work, humility, and independence.

With full professional lives, kids home during the day, and an active household, we are looking for someone who can take ownership of the many small details that keep everything running well. Whether it's coordinating a vendor, renewing a passport, preparing the home for our return from travel, keeping supplies stocked, or noticing that something needs attention before it becomes a problem, we want someone who can take the mental load off our plates so we can spend more time together as a family.

We are a welcoming and inclusive family, and our home is often filled with extended family, friends, and children with different needs and backgrounds. We hope to find someone who is warm, lighthearted, active, and comfortable becoming a genuine part of family life while understanding the importance of maintaining appropriate professional boundaries. Above all, we are looking for a trusted long-term partner who cares about the people and home they support.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

You are a highly capable household professional who naturally notices what needs to be done and takes care of it without waiting to be asked. You are organized, resourceful, and detail-oriented. You are equally comfortable working independently in the home while we travel as you are with a house full of kids, grandparents, and lots of love. You have excellent common sense, exercise sound judgment, and value privacy and discretion. You are willing to research an unfamiliar question, find the right solution, coordinate the details, and follow through to completion.

You are also someone who enjoys people and family life. You are active, playful, open-minded, and able to laugh, join a family dance party, or an outdoor adventure with the kids while still knowing when to step back and work independently. You understand that the children are capable participants in the work of the household, rather than simply recipients of care and service. You enjoy working alongside them, encouraging age-appropriate responsibility, and becoming another trusted adult in their lives.

You are someone who takes pride in bringing fresh ideas to the table, especially when it comes to helping us on our journey toward cleaner living. You enjoy researching and presenting new-to-us solutions for air and water filtration and other effective clean products that support a healthier home. You are also happy to support our passion for giving back and supporting small businesses in our community whenever we can. Most importantly, you are seeking a long-term role where you can become a trusted and valued presence in our family’s life.

Key Responsibilities

Household Management & Organization

  • Take ownership of the household’s day-to-day operational flow, anticipating needs and resolving issues before they become concerns for the family
  • Maintain a peaceful, clutter-free home by completing daily resets, organizing high-traffic areas, and keeping the kitchen and family spaces orderly
  • Create and maintain practical organizational systems for closets, cupboards, paperwork, mail, children’s artwork and schoolwork, photos, toys, and art supplies.
  • Coordinate seasonal clothing transitions, donation runs, and other periodic household organization projects
  • Prepare guest spaces with fresh linens, stocked mini-fridges, welcome items, and general readiness
  • Handle basic household maintenance such as changing light bulbs, batteries, smoke detector batteries, air and refrigerator filters, and other routine items
  • Maintain a manageable selection of indoor and outdoor plants and flowers that contribute to a healthy air flow and a welcoming home environment

Administrative & Personal Assistance

  • Track recurring deadlines and renewals, including passports, TSA PreCheck, vehicle registrations, inspections, and other household requirements
  • Maintain awareness of important family documents (e.g., adoption records, marriage documents, and materials needed for international travel)
  • Research international travel requirements (e.g., country-specific documentation, forms, and regulations and help ensure everything is prepared in advance)
  • Provide visibility into family and household calendars, with the potential to take on greater calendar coordination over time
  • Coordinate appointments, registrations, events, and other family logistics as the role evolves
  • Research and coordinate thoughtful gifts, purchases, donations, fundraisers, and other ways the family supports friends, staff, and community causes
  • Support household technology needs, including device configuration, updates, storage upgrades, screen protection, parental controls, log ins, and educational tools for the children’s devices
  • Research and implement ways to protect the family’s privacy by identifying and removing publicly available home addresses and other sensitive personal information from the internet. Make sure security cameras and alarms are functioning.

Family Support & Child Assistance

  • Provide light, backup childcare and supervision as needed and on date nights
  • Engage the children in reading, puzzles, outdoor activities, meal preparation, games, and practical learning
  • Assist with last-minute preparation needs related to the family’s short-term foster placements
  • Potentially grow into occasional transportation or expanded childcare support as the family’s needs evolve

Inventory, Mail & Errands

  • Monitor household inventory and proactively restock food, household supplies, toiletries, and other everyday essentials before they run out
  • Manage mail and packages (e.g., sort incoming items, remove junk, break down boxes, and handle occasional returns)
  • Help organize items received through family and community activities and complete donation runs as needed
  • Handle occasional shopping, gift purchases, and other practical household errands as needed

Meal Planning & Preparation

  • Shop for fresh, high-quality groceries and produce 1–2 times throughout the week, either in person or online
  • Wash, prepare, organize, and store fruits and vegetables so healthy options are ready to eat, particularly ahead of the family’s arrival home from travel
  • Batch-prepare proteins and flexible meal components that allow the family to easily assemble meals together
  • Prepare approximately 3–5 fresh, healthy meals per week
  • Introduce healthy ingredients, meal ideas, and practical kitchen techniques that align with the family’s evolving approach to wellness
  • Involve the children in age-appropriate food preparation rather than preparing and serving meals for them
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and functional kitchen at all times

Laundry & Linens

  • Manage household laundry needs, including sheets, towels, linens, and everyday clothing
  • Handle special garment care (e.g., delicate fabrics and items requiring specific laundering) as needed
  • Support the children in maintaining responsibility for their own laundry while providing guidance as needed
  • Proactively keep guest linens and household bedding clean, organized, and ready for use

Vehicle Management

  • Manage vehicle registrations, renewals, and inspections
  • Schedule and coordinate oil changes, routine maintenance, and other necessary vehicle services
  • Maintain vehicle organization and coordinate periodic clean outs
  • Monitor fuel levels and tire pressure and handle fueling as needed

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Serve as the primary household contact for cleaners, pool and hot tub services, HVAC providers, landscapers, gutter services, holiday-light installers, handymen, and other household vendors
  • Research vendors, obtain quotes, compare options, and coordinate services from scheduling through completion
  • Confirm work is completed properly and that the family is receiving appropriate value for the services provided
  • Create and manage a calendar for preventative maintenance and household systems, including HVAC, pool, hot tub, security, filters, smoke detectors, and other recurring needs
  • Occasionally check on the nearby grandparents’ home, communicating with the family when maintenance or safety needs arise
  • Help maintain sensible household utility usage and identify practical opportunities for greater efficiency

Healthy Home & Wellness Research

  • Research and help implement thoughtful improvements related to water filtration, air purification, lighting, EMF reduction, cleaning products, toiletries, home materials, sauna options, and other wellness priorities
  • Evaluate wellness-related products and ideas with attention to credible information, cost, quality, practicality, and the family’s overall goals
  • Help the family make informed household choices without introducing unnecessary expense or complexity

Travel & Household Readiness

  • Maintain awareness of upcoming travel and anticipate documentation, supplies, and household needs before departure
  • Assist with packing and unpacking, while reinforcing the children’s responsibility for their own belongings, and reset the home upon the family’s return
  • As the role evolves, take on coordination of flights, hotels, short-term rentals, and other travel logistics alongside the family’s existing professional assistants
