As an Assistant Accountant at Jan De Nul in Argentina, you support multiple dredging projects. Our projects keep open the navigation channels that carry Argentina's exports to sea, deepen and maintain river and coastal ports, and build land reclamation and coastal protection schemes. You will work in a dynamic environment and gain valuable experience along the way.
To keep our activities in Argentina running, we need accurate, structured people who make sure our financial records are complete, correct and on time. We are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our finance team and contribute to timely and reliable accounting for our Argentine entities and projects. You will play a key role in the financial flows of the projects, working closely with the (senior) accountant, project colleagues in different departments, suppliers and customers.

As an Assistant Accountant, you will support the (senior) accountant in handling key parts of the accounts.Your responsibilities will include:
- Processing incoming invoices, issuing outgoing invoices (electronic invoicing through ARCA), and entering and coding invoices in our system.
- Following up on the approval workflow for incoming invoices with the relevant departments.
- Monitoring and reconciling intercompany transactions.
- Preparing and maintaining financial journals and overviews of customers and suppliers.
- Following up on open items with suppliers and customers.
- Supporting month-end closing and reporting.
- Ensuring all of this is in line with Argentine legal and accounting standards
Of course, you will not be doing this on your own: you can rely on the support of colleagues in finance and other disciplines within the project team.
Your base in Buenos AiresYou will be based at our office in Buenos Aires, working from Monday to Friday. Because of month-end closing and tax deadlines, we count on your flexibility to occasionally work outside these hours when the situation requires it.What do you need to have?You are analytical, accurate and hands-on, and you enjoy keeping the numbers right behind the scenes.
- Studies in Public Accounting (Contador Público) or a related field in economics; relevant work experience is an advantage
- Good verbal and written Spanish and English.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel. Experience with Tango is a plus.
- Initiative and eagerness to learn.
- The ability to work independently and handle deadlines and pressure well.
- You live in or near Buenos Aires and are entitled to work here.
