Join S&P Global Ratings’ Financial Services practice as part of the Non-Bank Financial Institutions team, a group of approximately 15 analysts covering asset managers, financial market infrastructure companies, and finance companies.
In this role, you will lead credit analysis across a portfolio of complex financial institutions and contribute to independent credit opinions relied on by market participants. You will combine rigorous financial analysis, market insight, and sound judgment while helping the team strengthen analytical quality, develop junior colleagues, and responsibly adopt new technology.

- Identify emerging risks by connecting company performance, peer trends, market developments, and broader financial services themes.
- Contribute market-facing research and insights that help investors, issuers, and other stakeholders understand evolving credit risks.
Responsibilities
Core Analytical & Delivery
- Lead surveillance and analytical updates across an assigned portfolio, ensuring accuracy, consistency, timeliness, and clear reasoning.
- Evaluate financial and credit data, validate inputs, reconcile key metrics, and document analytical assumptions and model changes.
- Use approved generative AI and automation capabilities to enhance research and analytical workflows while maintaining appropriate human oversight.
Stakeholder & Market Engagement
- Translate complex analysis into clear, decision-useful written and verbal communication for rating committees and external stakeholders.
- Build trusted relationships with issuers, investors, and market participants and contribute to thought leadership and strategic initiatives.
Team Contribution & Capability Building
- Coach junior analysts on credit fundamentals, financial modeling, analytical quality, and responsible use of technology.
- Help improve analytical processes, tools, and workflows and support the testing and adoption of new capabilities.
Risk Management & Operating
- Maintain high standards for methodology, documentation, confidentiality, data governance, and responsible AI use.
Compensation / Benefits Information
For U.S. candidates: S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is $123,000 USD to $192,000 USD. Final base salary will be based on geographic location, experience, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan.
For Canadian candidates: S&P Global states that the anticipated range of compensation for this position is 111,000 CAD to 165,000 CAD. Final compensation will be based on performance, geographic location, experience, skill set, training, licenses, and certifications. In accordance with Ontario regulations effective January 1, 2026, this posting provides information on expected compensation. S&P Global will not be utilizing artificial intelligence in our hiring process. All interviewed candidates will be informed of hiring decisions within 45 days of their interview. What We’re Looking For
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven credit and financial analysis skills, including the ability to translate complex information into clear, evidence-based conclusions.
- Strong understanding of financial services and the ability to connect sector and market developments with emerging credit risks.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for rating committee materials and engagement with issuers, investors, and other market participants.
- Experience coaching or mentoring junior analysts and strengthening analytical quality through constructive feedback and review.
- Strong judgment and attention to accuracy, analytical rigor, documentation, confidentiality, and governance.
Preferred or Helpful Experience
- An S&P Global employee at this level would typically have 5 to 10 years of relevant experience in corporate credit analysis or a related financial services field.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. A master’s degree or professional certification (such as CFA) is highly valued. We welcome candidates from traditional finance disciplines as well as diverse academic backgrounds that support innovative and critical thinking.
- Experience using generative AI, large language models, data tools, or automation within analytical workflows, with appropriate validation and governance.
- Experience improving processes through standardization, tooling, or automation and supporting the testing and adoption of new capabilities.
Additional Information
- We require all candidates who reach the final stage of our interview process to attend at least one in-person interview, which is ordinarily at your nearest S&P Global Ratings office. This must be completed before we can proceed to an offer.
- Employees are required to work from the office a minimum of two days per week.
