Job Description Summary

The Electrical and Computer Engineering departments seeks multiple Assistant/Associate Professors to teach in areas of interest to ECE; maintain an active research agenda; advise students; and provide service to the institution. Appointment begins August 2027.

Job Description

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at Miami University invites applications for faculty positions beginning August 2027. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s teaching, research, student mentoring, and service missions. The position offers an opportunity to engage students through innovative and high-quality instruction while developing and maintaining an active program of scholarly research.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Teaching: Develop and teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in areas aligned with the candidate’s expertise and the instructional needs of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Teaching responsibilities may include developing course materials, incorporating appropriate instructional technologies, assessing student learning, and contributing to curriculum development.
  • Research and Scholarship: Establish and maintain an active research agenda that contributes to the candidate’s field of expertise. Pursue scholarly activities appropriate to the discipline, including publications, presentations, research collaborations, and external funding opportunities as appropriate.
  • Student Advising and Mentoring: Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students, providing guidance related to academic planning, research opportunities, career development, and professional growth. Engage students in research and other scholarly activities when appropriate.
  • Service: Participate in departmental, college, and university service activities. Contribute to committees, program development, recruitment and outreach, and other activities that support the mission and strategic priorities of the department, college, and university.
  • Professional Engagement: Maintain professional development and engagement within the field and contribute to the intellectual and academic community of the department and university.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

  • Earned doctorate in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a closely related field by the time of appointment.
  • Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor requires extensive teaching expertise and evidence of high-quality research.

Consideration will be given to candidates with teaching and/or research experience related to Quantum-related areas (including but not limited to quantum computing and quantum power), Robotics Engineering (including but not limited to computer vision, sensor integration, multi-robot coordination, and embedded systems), and Power Engineering.
