Role Definition

Evaluates trade compliance activities, controls, and risk management practices; supports assessments and reviews designed to ensure compliance with applicable global trade laws and strengthen the effectiveness of trade compliance controls, policies, procedures, and risk mitigation activities.

Responsibilities

• Supports trade compliance assessments, reviews, and assurance activities to evaluate the effectiveness of established policies, procedures, controls, and risk mitigation measures.

• Reviews trade compliance activities, documentation, and transactional data to identify compliance risks, control gaps, process weaknesses, and opportunities for continuous improvement.

• Interacts with business partners to gather information, support assessments, discuss observations, and assist in the development of corrective actions.

• Assists with management of assessment documentation, record-keeping requirements where applicable, corrective action tracking, and preparation of analyses and materials for management review.

International Trade: Knowledge of the markets, issues, regulations, practices and operations of international trade; ability to apply this knowledge appropriately in diverse situations.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Works with basic functions and services of international trade.

• Applies international trade knowledge while conducting compliance reviews, assessments, and assurance activities.

• Adheres to export and import regulations as outlined by federal and state regulatory agencies.

• Reviews trade compliance activities to identify potential risks, control weaknesses, and compliance concerns.

• Assesses basic economic and political risks in international trade, e.g. exchange rate risk.

Standard Operating Procedures: Knowledge of established standard operating procedures (SOP); ability to design, implement and evaluate standard operating procedures affecting daily and strategic business operations in order to increase operational efficiency.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Adjusts SOPs according to changes in organizational and industry procedures.

• Tracks deviations from and modifications to existing SOPs in business operations.

• Ensures compliance with industry standards, regulations and policies.

• Assists in establishing a standard operating procedure based on workflow and environment review.

• Reviews the efficiency of standard operating procedures in terms of performance improvement.

Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

• Evaluates and makes contributions to best practices.

• Processes large quantities of detailed information with high levels of accuracy.

• Collects, validates, and analyzes information from multiple sources to support trade compliance assessments and reviews.

• Analyzes reports and transactional data to identify trends, anomalies, and potential compliance risks.

• Assists in preparing assessment reports, presentations, and management summaries.

• Supports development and maintenance of compliance metrics, reporting tools, and assessment documentation.

• Reviews and verifies information for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.

• Presents findings and supporting analysis in a clear and understandable manner.

Customer Support Policies, Standards and Procedures: Knowledge of the organization's customer support policies, standards and procedures; ability to guide customers on all company interactions.

Level Working Knowledge:

• Follows standards and procedures that are relevant to one's own function and initiative.

• Provides feedback in order to improve standard procedures.

• Interprets documentation on the policies and standards regarding contact with the customer.

• Contributes to the development and implementation of specific procedures.

Additional Information: 

This position requires incumbents to be onsite in the Irving, TX office 5 days per week.

Summary Pay Range:

$97,530.00 - $146,290.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
