Job Description:
Assignment Sept 2026 to Oct 2027
Royal Canin is undertaking a major transformation programme called EOS to deliver against its strategy of being Fit for Future and removing business risk. The transformation has 4 key elements: new technology including implementation of SAP4 HANA, E2E standardized core processes, a strengthened data & analytics foundation, supported by a dedicated transformation team and change management. Following a successful pilot in Poland the 1st wave of implementations will go live in summer 2027 and RC EKA (European Key Accounts) will be one of 3 units to participate in the first wave. The approach will see local associates with relevant expertise moving onto the project and their day-to-day roles covered via backfills for the length of the project. EKA operates a unique model within Mars, delivering to major pan-European online customers operating in 28 markets and supplying direct ex-factory from 5 factories across Europe. It’s a small team of 37 associates with each role having high responsibility and impact. This role will be part of the backfill team covering day to day responsibilities in the running of the unit, covering a combination of General Accounting and Accounts Payable to support associates working part time on the EOS project.
The General Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive financial records, ensuring compliance with Mars GAAP, and supporting smooth financial operations. This role plays a key part in period-end closing and actively supports ICTC upon request, contributing to a robust governance and control environment. In addition to the core responsibilities of General Accounting, the associate will also support Accounts Payable activities, including the processing and posting of supplier invoices, performing vendor account reconciliations and supporting the AP month-end closing process.

- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments in compliance with Mars GAAP
- Contribute to period-end and year-end closing activities including preparation of closing schedules, subsystem feeds, journal entries, reconciliations, and final financial reporting
- Manage Accounts Payable activities, including the processing and posting of supplier invoices, ensuring accuracy, completeness and timely processing in accordance with agreed procedures.
- Perform vendor account reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies, overdue items and supplier queries.
- Support the AP payment process, including payment proposal preparation and follow-up, ensuring payments are accurate, complete and made in line with agreed payment terms and internal controls.
- Assist with regulatory filings, internal tax audit preparations, and reconciliations between tax and accounting data.
- Participate in cross-functional or finance-related projects, contributing accounting expertise and ensuring proper integration of Mars GAAP principles, ERP (Navision) processes, and internal control requirements.
