Eaton’s Electrical Sector is currently seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our 1st Shift team. This position is based at our Omaha, NE facility. You’ll play a key part in growth initiatives, contribute to exciting startup projects, and bring fresh ideas to a dynamic manufacturing environment where your work will help shape the future of our operations.
Our Omaha Power Center is expanding its operations in Bellevue! Eaton’s new 370,000-square-foot facility is expected to be online in the first half of 2027. The new facility will be designed and optimized to support high volume of switchgear structures at the quality and speed that AI data centers customers require. The engineered-to-order switchgear produced in the new facility can be integrated into Eaton’s prefabricated power systems, which are designed to offer customers flexibility.
The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will design, implement, improve, and sustain processes within their area of responsibility in support of department goals. This role will review process controls, drive continuous improvement through Lean Manufacturing and Kaizen activities, and support cell layout development, SMED, lead time reduction, productivity improvements, and waste reduction. The engineer will also help achieve product target costs, improve efficiency, resolve production process issues for existing products, and research and apply new technologies and techniques to support new product launches.
In this function you will:
- Assume full responsibility of interrelated functions, facilities, products or activities and provide assistance to line and staff personnel in order to develop solutions for product and manufacturing challenges for a complete line of apparatus
- Initiate and prepare specifications for products, equipment, tooling, processes and systems to obtain optimum cost and quality manufacturability
- Implement and utilize strategies to ensure concurrent engineering and design for manufacturing concepts with the design engineering team
- Design, develop, justify and guide the installation of new engineering concepts, equipment, tooling, processes and systems through appropriate procedures so that optimum manufacturing cost can be achieved and maintained.
- Deploy Lean, Quality and Environment/Safety tools to improve productivity, quality and safety
- Identify improvements for productivity, quality and business processes. Develop and implement solutions and monitor the results.
- Assist hourly personnel and supervisors in their efforts to improve their operations
- Plan, coordinate and oversee changes and upgrades to the manufacturing facility
- Benchmark other plants for best-in-class processes and suggest implementation opportunities and implement the best practices if applicable.
- Utilize Eaton lean tools to drive cost reduction and improve working capital performance.
- Work through leadership teams to prioritize improvement activities and close gaps. Provide Eaton Lean System support across the plant to drive business improvements, support lean initiatives and reporting requirements
- Outline the required workflow and material handling devices including storage areas, work areas and workplace layout.

Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or related engineering degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of three (3) years experience providing engineering support in a manufacturing environment.
- No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates residing within a 50-mile radius of the facility listed will be considered. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation

Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of engineering problem solving and quality techniques
- Sound understanding of production, inventory, financial principles.
- Strong understanding of Lean concepts and toolset
- Three to Five year’s work experience in manufacturing environment with focus on manufacturing engineering
- Experience with Industry 4.0 tools (e.g. Automation / Additive Manufacturing / SPC / Real-time production monitoring).
- Strong communication skills

- Capability to conduct time studies and implement solutions for bottleneck improvements and line balancing.
- Lean Manufacturing knowledge.
- Project Management knowledge.
- Knowledge of the financial side of the business, specifically, departmental budgets, capital planning, profit plan, and production measurement systems.
- Ability to adjust priorities to meet continuously changing schedules.
- Coordination of projects involving many groups such as engineering, production, quality, tool design, EHS.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision.
