Income Maintenance Caseworker II - Childcare

Brunswick County Department of Social Services is accepting applications for the position of Income Maintenance Caseworker II (IMC II) for the Childcare Assistance Program. An IMC II - Childcare completes interviews, processes applications, recertifications, and changes. The position will interreact with local childcare facilities concerning our mutual customers. The goal of the IMC II - Childcare is to assist customers and ensure the agency is meeting the State quality and timeliness standards for the Childcare Assistance Program.
 
Job responsibilities include:

• Completing timely and accurate applications, recertifications, and changes.
• Completing NCFAST Tasks daily.
• Interview customers for every childcare application and/or recertification.
• Address and respond to childcare provider questions and financial over/underpayments.
• Entering data into NC FAST and county document management system.
• Attending training. 
• Staying abreast of policy updates.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Knowledge of NC FAST
• Ability to complete NC Fast Core Certifications and the SCCA certification
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• General computer knowledge and ability to learn and navigate various programs and databases
• Excellent customer service skills
• Ability to prioritize tasks and reassess as priorities change in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to de-escalate upset customers / remain calm in stressful situations
• Strong written and oral communication skills, financial skills, and organizational skills

Must be available to work during emergency situations.

• Graduation from an accredited associate degree program in Human Services Technology, Social Services Associated, Paralegal Technology, Business Administration, Secretarial, or a closely related curriculum; or 
• Graduation from high school and three years of paraprofessional, clerical, or other public contact, which included negotiating, interviewing, explaining information, gathering and compiling of data, analysis of data and/or performance of mathematical program; or 
• An equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities.  

Direct experience with NC FAST is highly desirable as well as the Intro to Human Services and Income Maintenance Caseworker - NC FAST Certificates.   Must be physically able to operate a variety of office equipment. Must be able to exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pound of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
