About the American Connection Corps:

The American Connection Corps (ACC), an AmeriCorps program of Lead For America (LFA), is a service fellowship program aimed at helping communities build the digital connectivity necessary to expand opportunity and economic mobility, ranging from healthcare access to quality employment.

ACC Members serve with locally-rooted organizations, helping address the digital divide and strengthen access to opportunity. Through their service, they gain hands-on experience, build in-demand skills, and explore career pathways while making a tangible impact in their communities.

About Glitter Sisters Inc.

The Glitter Sisters cultivates youth leadership through arts, storytelling, and creative entrepreneurship, building belonging and opportunity for young people across Western North Carolina.

Position Overview

The Digital Operations and Community Resources Fellow is a hands-on, implementation-focused member of the Glitter Sisters team. The fellow will help keep information flowing, digital systems organized, community resources accessible, and approved day-to-day outreach moving forward. The fellow will work within established GSI messaging, brand standards, content priorities, and program strategy, helping turn those priorities into consistent, timely execution, under staff direction and supervision.

The role is ideal for someone who is organized, curious, digitally comfortable, attentive to detail, and genuinely enjoys helping people find the information and resources they need. The fellow will work across digital operations, community resource research, outreach, program support, and approved administrative and organizational support activities while gaining broad experience inside a community-centered nonprofit.

Key Responsibilities

The ACC Member will:

  • Digital Operations and Content Implementation
    • Schedule and publish approved social media content in accordance with established content calendars, messaging, and brand standards.
    • Help keep social media and content calendars current and ensure planned posts go out accurately and on time, under staff direction.
    • Create simple, on-brand graphics in Canva using established templates and visual guidelines.
    • Assist with short-form digital content, including Reels and other basic video content, using staff-approved content, messaging, and priorities.
    • Format and distribute approved e-newsletters, program updates, announcements, and other digital communications.
    • Monitor routine digital inquiries and direct questions to the appropriate team member when needed.
    • Maintain organized digital files, content assets, contact lists, and other communications materials.
  • Community Resources and Digital Navigation
    • Research, identify, and verify community and digital resources relevant to GSI scholars and their families.
    • Build and maintain an organized, accessible resource directory that can serve as a reliable source of information for participants, under staff direction and review.
    • Help GSI share information about digital resources, services, and opportunities supported by community partners and funders, including resources connected to the Digital Navigators initiative.
    • Review resource information for accuracy and identify outdated, incomplete, or broken information for correction by appropriate GSI staff or resource providers.
    • Conduct straightforward online research and organize findings in a clear, usable format.
    • Help participants locate reliable information and connect with appropriate resources while recognizing when a question should be elevated to GSI staff or a partner organization.
    • Support staff with donor and sponsor communications using approved information and materials.
    • Support staff with research on sponsors relevant to approved programming; the Fellow will not solicit donations, negotiate sponsorships, or make funding commitments.
    • Support staff-approved parental communications.
  • Community Outreach and Program Support
    • Support outreach for GSI programs, workshops, community events, and special initiatives under staff direction and supervision.
    • Assist with participant registration, confirmations, reminders, and routine follow-up for approved programs and activities.
    • Provide in-person support at events, workshops, community outreach activities, and tabling opportunities as an additional member of the GSI team.
    • Become familiar with GSI's programs and resources in order to represent the organization accurately, professionally, and warmly when interacting with participants, families, partners, and community members under staff direction.
    • Help prepare materials and provide logistical support before, during, and after programs and events.
  • Participant Follow-Up, Data Collection, and Reporting Support
    • Follow up with program participants to encourage completion of feedback surveys, evaluations, and other approved data-collection tools.
    • Track survey responses and participant feedback accurately and consistently.
    • Organize collected information so that GSI staff can review program participation, outcomes, and feedback.
    • Assist with routine data review, documentation, and preparation of information used in program evaluation and grant or funder reporting, under staff direction and review.
    • Maintain appropriate care, professionalism, and confidentiality when handling participant information.
  • Media and Outreach Support
    • Maintain and update press, media, partner, and community outreach contact lists, under staff direction.
    • Assist with the distribution of approved press releases, media notices, and organizational announcements.
    • Help track outreach and follow-up so that communications do not fall through the cracks.
    • Support routine due diligence related to media and community outreach, including verifying contact information and maintaining accurate records.
  • Administrative and Organizational Support
    • Provide administrative and organizational support related to approved AmeriCorps service activities and GSI programs, rather than general organizational operations.
    • Maintain organized shared files and folders in Google Drive related to assigned service activities.
    • Use tools such as Google Workspace, shared calendars, Slack, Canva, and other platforms adopted by the organization.
    • Assist with scheduling, contact-list maintenance, routine correspondence, documentation, meeting or event preparation, and follow-up related to approved programs and service activities.
    • Help create simple systems and maintain existing systems so that information is easy for the team to locate and use under staff direction.
    • Complete assigned tasks, meet deadlines, communicate progress, and flag questions or obstacles early.

All activities performed by the AmeriCorps Member will occur under staff supervision and within the approved AmeriCorps position description and program scope. The Member serves in a direct service and capacity-building role and may not independently manage programs, supervise staff or contractors, determine eligibility, engage in fundraising or grant writing leadership, or perform duties that duplicate, displace, or supplant employees or contractors.
