Position Summary
Essential Functions
- Plans, organizes and directs, supervises and evaluates work performance through a staff of technical subordinates.
- Develops and implements policies, programs and activities that are in the best interest of the County and directed toward increased efficiency, productivity, safety, quality as it pertains to recreational activities and park facilities.
- Meets with vendors, contractors, and suppliers to perform various types of tasks for the county. Inspects working progress and approves payments upon completion.
- Inspect parks, landscapes, irrigation, turf, and facilities.
- Address resident complaints and follows up to ensure problems are resolved; reports significant deficiencies to supervisor.
- Works with public, county staff, and other government entities to arrange, manage, reserve, and schedule events at county facilities.
- Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all parks and recreation facilities.
- Trains and supervises staff members in carrying out the overall activities.
- Represents the division in all matters. Provides or arranges facilities, material, and equipment for recreation and park activities.
- Provides input and administers annual budget. Reviews all payroll and purchases for recreational activities and park facilities.

Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Possession of a valid State of Florida driver’s license.
- 5-years of experience in supervising recreational or park programs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities- Must have a working knowledge of sound management practices, principles and techniques as related to the operation of recreational activities and park facilities.
- Must have the ability to plan, direct and supervise a large staff of trades and office personnel.
- Must have the ability to implement an annual budget, to plan and utilize computer assisted management techniques and to effectively communicate orally and in writing.
- Oversees and assists with general and specialized tasks in the modification, installation and repair of buildings, fences, trails, service roads, fire lanes, boardwalks, campsites, picnic sites, boat ramps, docks and all other necessary facilities.
- Must have the ability to analyze and adjust activities to the needs of participating groups.
- Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships; communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Must have the ability to manage and direct simultaneous projects and programs.
- Must have skill in planning, organization and implementation of the overall recreation and park development/maintenance programs.
- During emergencies, all employees are considered essential personnel and may be required to perform alternate duties.

- Physical agility is required in kneeling, bending, stooping, and reaching.
