Senior Payroll Associate

Summary of Position

 

Responsible for assisting in all facets of the timely and accurate pay processing operations of a multi-state, multi-company payroll department supporting over 200,000 associates.  Assists in training junior payroll associates and provides support with specialized payroll areas. Utilize relevant reporting tools to maximize efficiency of processes, accuracy of data and to develop relevant Payroll KPIs (key performance indicators).

Work closely with the Team Leads to help manage the daily workflows of the Payroll department, developing strategies for tackling high volumes in payroll mailboxes.

 

 Principal Duties and Responsibilities

 

• Accurately processes all facets of payroll entries for Management Companies, Distribution Centers and assists with store processing including time adjustments, entries, bonus and special payments within required timeframes.  Ensures validation and accuracy through utilization of queries/reports.
• Edits and reviews Compass/Kronos time records for discrepancies and adjusts accordingly
• Calculates and processes retroactive pay
• Process manual checks, replacement checks and paid outs ensuring accurate recordation, record keeping and calculation in compliance with all state and federal regulations.  Updates banking institution data with the same.  Assists in banking matter.
• Verifies benefits time accruals and ensures accurate payment in accordance with state regulations
• Process legal checks and provide requested documentation
• Review payroll associates manual payments for accuracy and ensure compliant with applicable state requirements. Load payments to pay cards and perform deletions/reversals on banking portal
• Manage pay card distribution to new and existing stores.
• Responsible for maintaining payroll policies that comply with state and federal regulations
• Responsible for adhering to internal controls, including SOX compliance
• Executes import of timekeeping systems (Kronos & Compass)
• Provides support and assists in training of junior payroll associates
• Provides customer service via phone and email.  Goal is to work 30-50 emails per day.
• Liaise with internal and external Auditors, assisting as necessary and providing any required   

Information and documentation

• Interest in learning new skills and platforms as needed for new projects. Assist as required with system testing/upgrade requirements.
• Assist the Payroll Processing Manager and Director with special projects
• Leadership ability to partner effectively with team members and business partners
• Other duties as required by management undefined

Minimum Requirements/Qualification - Summary of knowledge, experience and education required.

• 2-5 years payroll experience Multi-state payroll processing experience Working knowledge of FLSA rules and overtime calculations. Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written), interpret, reason, read, understand verbal instructions, analyze, differentiate, memorize, coordinate, compile, instruct, and maintain emotional control during highly stressful times. Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks. Ability to work in a high-volume processing center. Ability to handle confidential information discreetly. Working knowledge of Microsoft office products  

Desired Qualifications - Desired but not required.

•  Payroll certification (CPP or FPC) Workday application payroll experience a plus

Start Rate = $26.00 to $28.50 Hour
