Team Overview
The Research and Consulting team delivers data-driven market intelligence and strategic insights that help TransUnion leadership and external clients better understand consumer credit trends, lending markets, and emerging business opportunities. This team combines expertise in analytics, statistics, economics, and industry research to transform complex data into actionable recommendations that drive business growth and informed decision-making. The role reports to the Senior Director, Research and Consulting. This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.Role Overview And Core Responsibilities
- Develop a deep understanding of consumer credit data and leverage that knowledge to identify industry trends, market developments, and emerging lending opportunities.
- Design and execute research and analytical projects focused on complex market dynamics, consumer behavior, and financial services performance.
- Build analytical frameworks and translate complex statistical findings into compelling business insights and executive-level presentations.
- Deliver market-level business intelligence and research findings to TransUnion senior leadership and external clients.
- Partner with sales and business development teams as a subject matter expert in consumer lending and financial services, helping clients address evolving market challenges and opportunities.
- Lead client-facing and internal consulting engagements with minimal supervision while ensuring high-quality deliverables and actionable recommendations.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing competing priorities, changing requirements, and tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Present research findings and strategic recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences in English and Spanish.
- Collaborate with statisticians, data scientists, modelers, and industry experts to develop innovative approaches to market analysis and business intelligence.
- Contribute to a culture of excellence, continuous learning, innovation, and team collaboration across Research and Consulting initiatives.
Required Knowledge And Experiences
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Economics, Data Science, or a related quantitative discipline, providing the analytical foundation needed to conduct advanced research and business intelligence projects.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in banking, consumer lending, financial services, or related industries, including the analysis of market trends, consumer behavior, and lending performance.
- Strong knowledge of consumer credit data, financial markets, and lending industry dynamics, with the ability to translate insights into business recommendations.
- Experience leading analytical or consulting projects, including stakeholder management, executive communications, and presentation of complex findings to diverse audiences.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in both English and Spanish, with the ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining high levels of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
Required Technical Skills
- Advanced proficiency in Python and/or R for statistical analysis, modeling, and research applications.
- Advanced SQL (Structured Query Language) skills for data extraction, transformation, validation, and analysis.
- Strong experience with data analytics, statistical methodologies, and quantitative research techniques.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for data analysis, reporting, and executive presentations.
- Experience working with large datasets and transforming complex information into actionable business insights.
