Description
The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.
- Provides administrative, secretarial, budgetary, and educational support to the office of the Gaston Natural Resources Department. Serves as receptionist during office hours answering/redirecting phone calls and emails and directing/assisting visitors. Manages and submits deposits into proper accounts. Prepares, completes and maintains all financial tasks, including but not limited to, receipts, invoices/bills, travel requests/expenses, contracts and reimbursements. Keeps watch of balance totals, transfers, and transactions to let Director know of balance shortages, etc.
- Manages and maintains records and other documentation. Reports to Director and coordinates with Director, Natural Resources Manager, Stormwater and Erosion Control Manager, and Floodplain and Watershed Administrator on required actions for compliance with applicable Federal, State, and Local programs and regulations.
- Prepares lesson plans and presents conservation programs to public school groups, private school groups or adult community groups. Assists Environmental Educator with program implementation and scheduling.
- Leads planning, coordinating, and presenting of certain conservation programs and events such as Creek Week and Homeschool Science Series. Represents the department during events such as Career Fairs, Cotton Ginning Days, and Envirothon.
- Provides marketing and outreach to the public. Composes, transcribes, and edits letters, brochures, newsletters, reports and other materials. Receives, sorts, and distributes incoming mail; processes outgoing mail.
- Maintains record keeping systems and formats for reports; types correspondence and statistical files according to established systems using programs such as Tyler Munis, Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
- Records meeting minutes for the Gaston Soil and Water Conservation District Board, Gaston Agricultural Advisory Board, and Gaston Environmental Review Advisory Board. Prepares completes, and organizes all paperwork, reports, vouchers, and registrations for the boards.
- Performs other tasks as required. Attends overnight training as required.
- Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelors degree in administration, management, agriculture, conservation, education, environmental studies, or natural sciences.
- 1 year of related work experience.
- Valid state driver's license.
