Sr. Sourcing Manager

Overview

The Senior Sourcing Manager is responsible for executing sourcing strategies that support cost optimization, quality performance, risk mitigation, sustainable and ethical sourcing, and supply chain continuity to support growth in a rapidly growing business environment. This position will work closely with cross-functional teams and global suppliers to drive strategic initiatives and operational excellence.  This role serves as the primary owner of key ingredient and packaging relationships and leads the development and execution of negotiation strategies that drive long-term value for the business.

 

 

This position may be based in either Los Angeles or Bakersfield and follows a hybrid work schedule, with employees expected to work onsite Tuesday through Thursday.

 

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute multi-year category strategies using spend analysis, supplier capabilities, market intelligence and technology to support growth, margin, innovation, sustainability, and supply-continuity objectives and make executive recommendations.
• Lead competitive sourcing events and complex supplier negotiations covering contracts, pricing, payment terms, service levels, specifications, volume commitments, risk allocation, and other commercial terms.
• Support new product development from concept through launch by securing scalable supply, competitive pricing, appropriate lead times, supplier readiness, and commercial alignment.
• Monitor commodity, market, geopolitical, and supplier trends; build category expertise and develop strategies to mitigate cost volatility, capacity constraints, and supply-continuity risks.
• Own a multi-year cost-savings pipeline by establishing baselines, developing business cases, validating savings with Finance, managing implementation, and reporting results against targets.
• Lead strategic supplier relationship management through performance scorecards, business reviews, executive engagement, corrective actions, innovation planning, and issue escalation.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with Product Development, Quality, Brand Marketing, Finance, and the Supply Chain team to ensure sourcing decisions meet business, regulatory, and operational requirements.
• Partner with Sustainability to advance supply chain transparency, organic resiliency, responsible sourcing, and social and environmental improvements while maintaining cost competitiveness, quality, supply continuity, and operational flexibility.
• Support the development of the sourcing organization by developing tools, processes, and best practices that improve team capabilities and support the continued maturity of the Califia Sourcing department.

 

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, finance, engineering, or a related field; an advanced degree or relevant professional certification is a plus.
• 8+ years of progressive experience in strategic sourcing, category management, or procurement within a consumer products company. Food and beverage industry experience is required.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and implement short- and long-term sourcing strategies using spend analysis, market intelligence, cost drivers, supplier capabilities, and business requirements.
• Strong knowledge of the fundamentals of ingredient, packaging, and commodity markets, including geographic, political, economic, regulatory, and climate-related impacts on cost and supply security.
• Proven success leading complex supplier negotiations and contracting processes, including pricing, commercial terms, service levels, risk allocation, and contract lifecycle management.
• Strong financial and analytical acumen, including total-cost modeling, scenario analysis, should-cost analysis, and savings validation; advanced proficiency with Excel and experience with ERP, sourcing, analytics, and project-management tools.
• Superior critical thinking, problem-solving, and judgment, with the ability to translate complex information into clear recommendations and actionable plans.
• Executive-level communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships at all organizational levels, align cross-functional stakeholders, influence without direct authority, and lead change.
• Ability to independently manage multiple complex categories, initiatives, priorities, and deadlines while operating confidently in an ambiguous and rapidly changing environment.
• High personal integrity and ethical standards, combined with curiosity, adaptability, and a constructive sense of humor.
• Approaches challenges and changes with a sense of humor and curiosity to adapt to changing markets, company priorities, and dynamics.

 

 

The expected salary range for this position is between $135,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year based on a full-time schedule.  Location, confirmed job-related skills and experience will be considered in setting the actual salary. As a full-time employee, you will be eligible to enroll in Califia’s employee benefits program. You may also be eligible to participate in the company’s bonus program which may be subject to change.
