Accounts Payable AnalystJob Description
The Accounts Payable Analyst supports the Accounts Payable team in delivering accurate and timely processing of invoices, expenses, and payments across the Procure-to-Pay lifecycle. This role is designed to provide practical work experience while developing knowledge of finance systems, controls, supplier processes, and stakeholder service in a structured learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Invoice and Expense Processing
o Support the processing of supplier invoices and employee expenses accurately and on time.
o Check invoices for completeness, correct coding, approvals, and supporting documentation.
o Assist with matching purchase orders, receipts, and invoices where applicable.
o Escalate discrepancies or missing information to the appropriate team member.
Supplier and Query Support
o Respond to routine supplier and internal queries in a professional and timely manner.
o Help maintain accurate supplier records and support supplier onboarding activities.
o Assist with validating changes to supplier information in line with team procedures.
Payments and Reconciliations Support
o Provide support with payment preparation activities and routine checks.
o Assist with supplier statement reconciliations and follow up on outstanding items.
o Support month-end activities by preparing information and completing assigned tasks.
Compliance and Controls
o Follow Accounts Payable procedures, internal controls, and approval requirements.
o Maintain accurate records and ensure documentation is audit ready.
o Learn and apply key tax, compliance, and policy checks relevant to invoice processing.
Systems, Learning and Team Support
o Use finance systems and Microsoft Office tools to complete daily tasks.
o Participate in training and development activities to build knowledge of AP processes and controls.
o Support continuous improvement activities and contribute ideas to improve team efficiency.
o Work collaboratively with colleagues across Finance, Procurement, and the wider business.
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
• A strong interest in finance, accounting, or business administration.
• Good attention to detail and a willingness to learn.
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage routine tasks effectively.
• Basic numerical skills and confidence working with data.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work well as part of a team and build positive working relationships.
• Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• A willingness to study towards, or currently be studying, a relevant finance or business qualification is desirable.
• Previous office or customer service experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
