ABOUT THE ROLE

Provide expert guidance and lead the analysis, design, modification, installation and maintenance of enterprise and middleware portal software application programs, integrated cloud and disparate complex hybrid systems, software utilities or software solutions including complex databases to meet user and organizational information and processing needs. Assigned applications and technologies may include, but are not limited to, Workday, Banner, DegreeWorks, Regent Education, Salesforce, Faculty Information Systems, and other enterprise applications, integrations, and technology services as institutional needs evolve.

TYPE OF SUPERVISION:

Receive direction from the Enterprise Systems Manager.

• Direction – indicates that the incumbent attains specific goals and objectives in a broad area of work. Only the final results of work done are typically reviewed. Incumbent typically develops procedures within the limits of established policy guidelines.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

(20%)

• Leads the technical lifecycle of complex, integrated enterprise systems, including cloud-based and vendor-hosted applications, interfaces, databases, utilities, and related technology services.
• Partners with functional users, business process owners, IT colleagues, and vendors to gather, analyze, document, and validate business, system, workflow, data, reporting, and integration requirements.
• Designs, configures, implements and maintains system components including workflows, business rules, routing, notifications, forms/documents, calculated fields, user interfaces, and related functionality, as applicable to assigned platforms.
• Develops, modifies, tests and maintains, program code, scripts, queries, data transformations, and other technical components using appropriate development standards and practices.

• Provides technical guidance to functional users regarding reporting, dashboard, data-extract, and analytics needs. Analyzes requirements and recommends appropriate reporting solutions.

• Ensures data privacy and security of all assigned systems. Leads the support of assigned systems to ensure minimal downtime and loss of productivity and service.
• Coordinates with business users and vendors on the latest releases and ensures all critical patches are applied as appropriate

• Workday integration tools including Workday Cloud, Workday Studio, Cloud Connectors, Enterprise Interface Builder, Web Services and Rest APIs to develop and support integrations between workday and other information systems.

• Tracks, updates, and communicates the status of all tasks assigned to or initiated in area of responsibility in accordance with departmental procedures.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES:

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• 5 years of progressively responsible experience supporting the full lifecycle of enterprise applications in a production environment
• 5 years of experience with relational and document-based database systems programming, associated technical documentation and production support

Preferred

• Experience with Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or comparable platforms
• Workday integration experience, including Workday Studio, Enterprise Interface Builder, web services, REST APIs, and secure file transfer protocols
• Workday Pro certification or other relevant Workday technical certification
• Experience with programming, scripting, query, web-development, data-transformation, and integration technologies such as Java, JavaScript, C#, SQL, PL/SQL, XML, XSLT, HTML, Angular, PHP, Ruby on Rails, SOAP, REST, JSON, or comparable technologies

 

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Knowledge of enterprise application architecture, systems analysis, software development, systems integration, databases, reporting, testing, change control, and production support.
• Knowledge of data privacy, information security, role-based access, data quality, and appropriate handling of confidential institutional information.
• Knowledge of Workday, Banner, DegreeWorks, Regent Education, Faculty Information Systems, Salesforce, or comparable higher-education enterprise applications
• Skill in analyzing business, workflow, reporting, data, and integration needs and translating them into secure, reliable, and maintainable technical solutions.
• Skill in configuring, developing, testing, troubleshooting, and supporting enterprise applications, integrations, reports, data extracts, databases, scripts, queries, and related technical components.
• Familiarity with relevant programming, scripting, web-development, database, data-transformation, and integration technologies, such as Java, JavaScript, C#, SQL, PL/SQL, XML, XSLT, HTML, Angular, PHP, Ruby on Rails, SOAP, REST, and comparable technologies, preferred.
• Skill in technical documentation and using versioning and other common development tool sets such as Bitbucket, GIT, etc.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities and deadlines
• Ability to communicate effectively with functional users, IT colleagues, leadership and vendors and provide technical leadership and guidance.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive information.

The hiring range for this position is $96,572.00 - $130,000.00 annually. Offers are determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to geographical location, knowledge, skills, years & depth of experience, and equity with internal team members.
