We are expanding our Ontario team and looking for a driven Accounts Payable Manager to grow our company
Position Overview
The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the accounts payable function, including payment processing, vendor management, and financial record-keeping. This role ensures accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in all payable transactions while leading and developing the AP team.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the full accounts payable cycle, including invoice processing, coding, verification, and payment authorization
- Develop and implement AP policies, procedures, and controls to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements
- Lead, supervise, and mentor AP team members; conduct performance reviews and identify training needs
- Manage vendor relationships, including onboarding, resolution of payment discrepancies, and communication regarding invoicing issues
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve variances in a timely manner
- Process and track expense reimbursements and ensure proper documentation
- Generate and analyze AP reports, including aging reports, cash requirements, and payment forecasts
- Ensure accurate and timely recording of all transactions in the general ledger and accounts payable system
- Coordinate with other departments (Finance, Accounting, Procurement) to ensure seamless operations
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and cost savings within the AP function
- Assist with external and internal audits; maintain organized documentation for all payables
- Handle special projects and ad-hoc financial analysis as assigned by management
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 5–7 years of accounts payable experience
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes, controls, and best practices
- Proficiency with accounting software and Microsoft Business Central; experience with Microsoft Excel
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA or CMA certification (or in progress)
- Experience with process automation and RPA tools
- Prior experience in a manufacturing, distribution, or similar operations-intensive environment
- Knowledge of Canadian tax and payroll regulations
