About Our Family

We are a busy, warm, and energetic family of five based in North Dallas. With three kids in three different schools and a full activity calendar spanning football, hockey, cheer, soccer, guitar, and more, our household moves fast and there is always something happening. We love to laugh, we celebrate individuality, and we lead with kindness and inclusion. We are a casual household: the kids are kids, there is occasional friendly chaos, and we genuinely appreciate someone who can roll with it without missing a beat.

One parent works full-time outside the home and travels 2-3 nights per week. The other parent manages the household full-time: coordinating pickups, volunteering, running errands, and keeping the family's to-do list moving. We also have a wonderful live-in nanny who handles a great deal around the home but does not drive. This is a collaborative environment — you would be joining an existing team and complementing the work already being done, not replacing it.

We also have two beloved rescue dogs. One is a medium-sized spaniel/pitt mix who is sweet but takes time to warm up to new people. The other is a large lab/great pyranese mix who is a people-loving goofball and has no idea how big he is. They are both active, young, and absolutely a central part of family life. We want someone who genuinely shares that love and will treat them with the same patience and care we do.

Our home is full, lively, and loving. We believe in creating a positive, comfortable environment for everyone who works here, and we care deeply about the people who show up for our family every day.

Who You Are / What We're Looking For

The right person for this role is someone who walks in, reads the room, sees what needs to be done, and gets to work. You are emotionally intelligent, friendly, and easy to be around, but you know how to focus deeply to get the work done and maintain professionalism on the job. You are present with the kids and playful when the moment calls for it, but also know how and when to enforce important boundaries.

You are a natural self-starter. You have a point of view on how systems should work and you're not shy about suggesting or implementing them. You move well in a fast-paced environment and you adapt when plans change (because they will). You are comfortable working alongside other household support without stepping on anyone's toes, and you know how to collaborate without creating friction. You are tech-comfortable enough to check and use a shared household calendar to anticipate needs before they become problems.

You genuinely love dogs — not just tolerate them. You understand that our dogs may need some extra patience during the adjustment period, and that's something you take seriously and approach with care.

You are equally happy and comfortable folding laundry, prepping a healthy dinner, walking two energetic dogs, and running errands or carpool: what matters most to you is not the specific task at hand, but the impact that you can make on a busy family.

Key Responsibilities

Family Support & Child Assistance

  • Assist with school and activity pickups and drop-offs across multiple schools each weekday afternoon
  • Provide engaging, age-appropriate supervision for three children
  • Support after-school routines: homework accountability, personal care, winding down from activities
  • Help prep backpacks, snacks, and gear for after-school sports and activities
  • Willingness to provide occasional morning drop-off or overnight support when parents travel, with advance notice and for additional hourly payment

Meal Support

  • Grocery shopping (in-store preferred for produce quality)
  • Plan weekly meal menu for breakfasts, snacks, and dinners, maintaining awareness of family schedules (e.g. when one parent is traveling) to appropriately plan portion sizes
  • Prep fresh, healthy dinners Monday through Thursday: family-friendly, organic when possible
  • Batch-prep quick, healthy breakfasts ahead of time
  • Prepare after-school snacks using whole, fresh ingredients kids will actually enjoy
  • Dietary awareness: no rice (allergy), no salmon for one family member, no shellfish or pork
  • Kitchen clean-up and ongoing maintenance

Household Organization & Maintenance

  • Proactively reset home daily: declutter counters, mudroom, desks, mail area, and other high-traffic zones, returning items to their proper place
  • Create and maintain organizational systems throughout the home with a clear point of view on how things should flow and evolve as kids age
  • Create and manage an organizational system for processing incoming school papers, mail and packages: open, sort by category, put away appropriately and flag items needing action
  • Light tidying in collaboration with existing household support
  • Manage seasonal clothing transitions and closet maintenance for all three children, proactively sorting by size and rotating out items that no longer fit
  • Coordinate and drop off donations and distribute hand-me-downs
  • Assist with event, holiday, and guest prep as needed
  • Assist with packing and unpacking for family travel
  • Proactively track and replace batteries, light bulbs, and smoke detectors

Laundry & Linens

  • Manage organization of family laundry: fold, hang, and put away all items in the correct place
  • Perform special garment care as needed (e.g. hang drying, ironing, steaming, and stain treatment)
  • Keep laundry areas tidy and well stocked

Pet Care

  • Walk both dogs daily, following family training protocols with proper correction equipment (prong collar, e-collar) – must be physically capable of walking strong dogs using correction equipment
  • Scoop poop as needed
  • Schedule and transport to vet and grooming appointments
  • Administer medications as needed
  • Maintain pet supplies

Inventory & Errands

  • Restock pantry, fridge, and household supplies throughout the home
  • Manage shared running household shopping lists for groceries and supplies
  • Manage household orders and flag items that need reordering
  • Run miscellaneous errands as needed, including: returns, dry cleaning, gift shopping, etc.
  • Mail and package intake and processing
  • Break down and dispose of cardboard boxes

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

  • Manage ongoing organization of high-use areas throughout the home: mudroom, garage drop zones, storage spaces, and catch-all areas (e.g. desks)
  • Clean out and organize storage spaces as ongoing project when time allows (e.g. storm shelter and water heater room)

Vendor & Property Oversight

  • Serve as on-site point of contact for contractors, landscapers, and service providers
  • Coordinate repairs using existing list of preferred vendors and gather quotes as needed for new home repairs
  • Schedule exterminator appointments (wasps, ants, etc.) as needed
  • Build and maintain a seasonal home maintenance calendar

Administrative & Personal Assistant Support

  • Monitor and actively use shared household calendar (Skylight) to anticipate upcoming needs — gifts, appointments, prep items — without being asked
  • Assist with appointment and event scheduling and coordination
  • Receipt and basic budget tracking for on-the-job expenses

If interested, please submit the following:

  • A brief letter explaining why you would be a great fit for this position
