Job requirements
The Lead Specialist serves as the designated scheme owner for a portfolio of complex pension schemes, providing subject matter expertise across critical scheme event processes including Pension Increases, Renewals, Member Movements, Data Reconciliation, and Valuations. This role leads the delivery of complex pension administration initiatives such as GMP Equalisation (GMPE) and other transformation projects, acting as a key driver of innovation and continuous improvement within the team. Combining deep technical knowledge with strong stakeholder engagement, the Technical Specialist ensures high-quality operational delivery, mitigates delivery risks, and enhances client outcomes. Additionally, the role plays a pivotal part in developing team capability through knowledge sharing, mentoring, and process leadership.Key Responsibilities
Collaborate cross‑functionally with internal departments to ensure alignment with client requirements and timely project delivery.
Act as the primary liaison with technical teams, process innovation groups, and Scheme Events (SE) teams, fostering strong partnerships and ensuring stakeholder satisfaction.
Proactively identify and implement process improvement initiatives to drive operational efficiency and enhance service quality.
Track and report on project milestones, deliverables, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure transparency and accountability.
Address and resolve delivery‑related issues promptly by coordinating with relevant teams to maintain project momentum.
Ensure strict adherence to compliance standards and regulatory requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
Manage, analyse, and resolve errors and client complaints effectively, ensuring swift resolution and continuous service improvement.
Build competency for others on the team.
Champion continuous improvement initiatives to elevate quality, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
Assess the impact of technical changes on existing processes and integrate updates into organizational standards and best practices.
Document AS‑IS and TO‑BE processes.
Create clear process documentation, guidance notes, and training material to support new and improved processes.
Required Experience and Technical Knowledge
PMI Certification – minimum of APE. Preferred would be CPC certification.
Proven experience in pension administration, with a focus on Defined Contribution (DC) and Defined Benefit (DB) schemes.
Experience of Key Scheme Event processes such as Pension Increases, Renewals, Member Movement Reports, and Valuations.
Strong knowledge of Midas and Non‑Midas systems.
Strong analytical and logical reasoning skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and drive insights.
Hands‑on experience managing small‑scale projects, including planning, coordination, and delivery for a small cohort of staff.
Background in technical or process improvement teams, contributing to operational enhancements and innovation.
Demonstrated collaboration with cross‑functional teams, particularly operations and IT, to design and implement effective business solutions.
Experience supporting testing phases, including User Acceptance Testing (UAT), defect tracking, and validation of system fixes.
Required Skills and Behaviors
