Description

What's the role?

The Head of Corporate Communications is responsible for leading strategic messaging and executive storytelling for News Corp Australia and the Executive Chairman. Sitting within Corporate Affairs, this role drives proactive communications to protect brand integrity, promote commercial and business priorities, and enhance trust across internal and external stakeholders.

This role requires exceptional writing skills, a deep understanding of the executive's voice and audience expectations, and the ability to navigate complex contexts while carefully managing reputational sensitivities across all stakeholder groups.

*Note: Applications close on Wednesday, 4th November.

Responsibilities

  • Research, draft, and refine high-impact speeches, keynotes, letters, opinion pieces, and talking points, alongside managing the weekly internal newsletter for the Executive Chairman.
  • Establish core tone and messaging with the Executive Chairman to ensure alignment across broader company communications.
  • Conduct background research and subject matter expert interviews to deliver accurate, authentic executive communications.
  • Partner with Corporate Affairs to align speech narratives with organisational reputation and media goals, while analysing post-address media coverage and sentiment to refine strategy.
  • Prepare comprehensive briefing documents, including Q&A scenarios and audience profiles, to prepare the Executive Chairman. Facilitate speech rehearsals with constructive feedback to elevate executive delivery.
  • Direct end-to-end scripting and production for promotional campaign videos, oversee physical branding and graphic activations for key events (e.g. Bush Summit Mustang), and handle ad-hoc corporate communications.

Who are you?

  • You hold a Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or a related field, with a Master’s degree being highly preferred.
  • You bring 10+ years of experience in speechwriting or high-level corporate communications, serving as a trusted advisor to C-suite executives and senior leaders on messaging, positioning, and complex corporate narratives.
  • You possess exceptional written communication skills and advanced proficiency in
rhetorical devices, storytelling, and narrative structures, enabling you to craft tone-appropriate content (from keynotes and newsletters to corporate booklets) that drives audience action.
  • You have a proven track record of leading high-stakes, multi-faceted projects under tight deadlines, where you're comfortable managing short-turnaround deliverables for executives and complex stakeholder groups.
  • You're a skilled collaborator who can effectively align cross-business, cross-functional stakeholders while balancing diverse internal and external priorities.
  • You offer a deep understanding of media relations, public affairs, and crisis communication principles within a fast-paced, global business environment.
